The chairman of the residents association mentioned some important points.

- home owners who want to move out of the estate are messing up the estate by putting up illegal storeyed extentions to maximise on rental income when they are gone and this negatively affects the remaining home owners, what he called self cannibalization. He was pleading with kanjo to save them (residents) from themselves.

- the mess in the estate has made the value of their homes to plummet.

As expected the feature had nothing much but it just shows our greed. These landlords moving out would have realized more if they kept to estate as it was. Its crazy, the hawkers are now at the front of the school. Its a pity, the estate is now a slum. The same is being replicated in South B, C, Makadara etc.

The two have also decayed. They used to be quiet high end neighborhoods just like muthaiga before flats took over and middo class moved in. The few remaining homeowners are being forced to sell their homes to (re)developers and move to "quiet karen" since you cant comfortably live next to a 6 storey flat with excited middle class and their housegirls gawking at you hapo chini as you and your wife swim in your own pool.

True. Kilimani, riverside, spring valley, lavington etc residents protested the degradation of their neighborhoods due to encroachment by flats and offices and lost.

Buru is indicative of Nairobi's poor planning and greed. The net result is issues like insane traffic, water shortages, flooding, poor services etc. Things will only get worse as the population surges.

How have cities like London and Paris survived for hundreds of years? Their estates built in the 1800s AD still look nice, while buruburu built just the other day is in shambles.

Actually, the whole of Nairobi is in shambles.

1. London and Paris are governed by by-laws stipulating the rules and regulations of the city, here is the website. Nairobi has by-laws, do you know where you can get a hold of them? Here they are mchezo tu.

2. We as a people are still evolving. We behave like the baboons in the park. Buy a banana from mtindwa, peal, eat and throw the skin on the path. Heathens is an understatement. Totally uncivilized
