Hi people! I will soon be leaving Nairobi for Mwanza to reside permanently for 2-3 years for a job i got. Who has ever been there, and what was the general life experience like? I have tried to research online but apparently they are still backward techwise! So whats the general state of things there? Thanks Enjoy every moment of your life, you never know when your time will come.

Mwanza is not a bad place.....may compare with Nakuru or Eldoret. Stayed at some hotel called Green leaf and was nice. Shoot specific questions.

@Kenmac, i thought its bigger the size of Mombasa coz i was looking at the demographic statistics and its almost 3 million while mombasa is abt 1.8 million I would agree with @ stock.enigma that it is more like kisumu with lake victoria incising the town to two. Food is cheap. Long-term rental accommodation I don't know about Mwanza, but I know Tanzanians like making longer contracts for rentals, like asking for six months or 3 months rent upfront (not deposit). Public transport is cheap. 400tzs (20-25ksh) is a standard price for considerable distances.

Lots of fish in Mwanza, both types, real fish and Swenani fish. Truth forever on the scaffold Wrong forever on the throne (James Russell Rowell)

Hot place, developing kiasi. I liked creativity of the residents there who had built houses into, around and onto of the huge rocks there! Life is cheap hukoz. BTW, how did you get work permit? Hio ni kama kupata maziwa ya kuku.
