You might be told to evacuate but the storm finds you wherever you manage to go or you find you don't have the money to transport you and your family wherever you need to go.

its cyclone season... you are in a country that faces the pacific to the west and cyclones hit you guys yearly. what do you do when gava says - evacuate?

You do what you can to evacuate. However, you still might not be safe especially in low lying areas like these. Look at the images here:

Then we have this statement here: "Authorities had evacuated hundreds of thousands of people before the typhoon arrived, but many evacuation centres - schools, churches and government buildings - proved unable to withstand the winds and storm surges."

Don't forget that storms also do things that no one might have planned for like Katrina and Sandy.

Better to understand magnitude of disaster. Topography of the area and population density. Philippine has faced many typhoons and a 6+ big earthquake this calendar year.
If such a disaster hits Kenya, it's possible a third of us ......

geographically improbable! we have our disasters i.e. famine!
earthquakes, cyclones, hurricanes, tornadoes are other people's portion.
