I'm all for my rights and all but maybe there was a reason the Holy Books had a place for women...

Woman emancipation in my opinion has greatly contributed to destroying the modern family...

1.The emancipated woman can't do child rearing resulting in our rotten youth brought up by housegirls, watchmen and teachers...

2. The emancipated woman has created a need for two heads in the home leading to all sorts of conflicts and ego clashes between spouses...

3. The emancipated woman cannot be in polygamy therefore choosing the path of extra marital affairs for her spouse who may have a lot of love to give...

4. The emancipated woman lets other women (house girls) cook for her husband and cries later...

5. Most emancipated women think controlling their body is walking around naked and having abortions....

6. The emancipated woman is usually depressed and ready for suicide by the age of 65...

I have my helmet strapped on tight. Pelt all you want!
Feminism begun in the US in the sixties as women sought to liberate themselves from the traditional roles of wife and mother. The catalysts to this movement then were the contraceptive pill, legalization of abortion and the sexual revolution of the swinging sixties. it then spread the world over and by the late 80s most democratic countries had embraced this movement.
I may not have the data to prove it, but anecdotal analysis of the social consequences of the Women’s Liberation Movement reveals that it has inflicted more harm on Kenyan women and society in general, than it has provided equality and political freedoms.
The sexual revolution that feminists claimed to have liberated women has actually produced millions of unwed mothers and in many cases unintended pregnancies, the primary driver of the illegal abortion carried out in this country.
Moreover, the sexually liberated women have been a boon to the Kenyan man.Why date and marry one woman when you can have all the guilt free sex with as many women as you wish, without committing to any?
Suffice it to say that this liberation,in as much as it has given relative financial freedom to women than ever before, has resulted in more heartache, depression, emotional damage and societal dysfunction.
It is a curious fact that of all the illusions that beset mankind, none is quite as curious as that tendency to suppose that we are mentally and morally superior to those who differ from us in opinion.

You people living in the 1800s, women are as good as men in everything that doesn't involve muscles!

Throwing stones at you on this one, so the wise men started thinking like stupid women and went ahead forgot they were supposed to marry before sleeping with anyone or do we solely blame the single mothers out there?? In case you did not get the memo, most women in Kenya are likely to be single mothers at age 45. whether divorced, never got married or widowed.

And what will you say about the new breed of 30-something year old men, way beyond the marriage age but would rather be spanner boys?
And those that choose to wear the skirt in the house? drink all their earnings and leaving their so called loved ones hungry in the process, you will blame that on the nagging wife at home, donge?

Parting shot, its a failed society, for both the male and female species, has nothing to do with what you got in between your legs.

smhShame on you Nobody is judging you... This is a point that has been put across by your fellow woman. And ironically, by an emancipated muslim woman. Pointing fingers at men, won't answer it. Two wrongs don't make a right!

Personally I'd luv to hear your educated views on if a woman left to her own devices, is capable of making sound decisions. Examples?

Oh really @Mukiri? That no woman can make sound decisions on her own?

Example
Wangari Mathai- to protect the environment. And what were you doing apart from kuchoma makaa?

What kind of women do you hangout with?

@Mukiri Just delivered the message. why are we hanging him on the cross?
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God..

A rapidly industrializing world needed women out of homes and in the workplace ...to increase human resources as well as reduce its cost.
Lines that demarcated what women can do and can't do needed to disappear fast.
When you cut through all the theory and BS, at the core of society's motivations, shifts and changes, its all about money.

Methinks it was the 2 world wars. Men who were supposed to be in the work places were sent to kill themselves all over the world. Due to the shortages in the work force the women were recruited to take their places to build more weapons of were and associated paraphernalia for the men to kill each other with. At the end of the wars the number of men had greatly reduced and at the same time the women had enjoyed the independence of earning your money and planning what to do with it and they simply refused to go back to their traditional roles.
It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt...

Hey guys let us not go very far, right here in Kenya.

A couple of months ago, certain elderly pastor told a congregation that modern day women in Kenya are unmarriable.

The women spewed all sorts of epithets at him and non of these women came forward to tell the pastor why their peers in sixties and seventies were better than them!!!

Come srore, don't shoot the messenger. Was our late Nobel laureate married? Does it mean for a woman to achieve great accomplishments the family has to suffer? Is that justified?

Yes she was. Then got divorced. So what?
There are lots of women who are doing excellently and also have families ...for example, Sheryl Sandberg, Marissa Mayer, Safra Catz, Hillary Clinton, Victoria Beckham ...the list is endless. These examples ought to answer your question about women making sound decisions on their own as a resounding yes.
There are also women (and men) who have not accomplished greatly and the family still suffered.
If you can't interact and have meaningful relationships with successful women, that is your problem. There will only be more of them as time marches. Those who can't adapt, die.

Yes women can and in fact are doing and still doing it. Women take the major roles in the house, and even its well known in the marriages she makes the decision, but sometimes let you think you made, in other instances she lets you so that you fell like the man in the house, but dig deep and you will find that she was part of your decision. So how is it that single women live on their own and make decisions and move their families to heights. That is just stereotype kind of thinking anyway.

and by quoting the bible.....that was a culture thousands of years ago...and those still following the same, we know how much those society's women are fighting hard to get out of old laws...I only pity and feel sad for women in those societies.

This kind of reasoning is what has led us to where we are now as a society.
God(for the believers) or Evolution(for the non believers) bestowed upon the sexes certain unique strengths that are in most cases complementary than competitive. Let us embrace our God given (natural) abilities and stop challenging one another.
And there are strong and weak people of both genders.
It is a curious fact that of all the illusions that beset mankind, none is quite as curious as that tendency to suppose that we are mentally and morally superior to those who differ from us in opinion.

Can a society be judged by how it treats its women folk, just as it can be judged by how it treats its minorities, or political dissidents?

I know for a fact that you can tell how civilized a people are from their poor, orphans, disabled.

All societies have made great mess-ups in the past; we can only judge them by the direction they're heading. Watch out though, ill applied corrective actions can create a worse mess than what they aim to resolve.
