I am currently seeing 2 projects being marketed.
1. Runda Paradise 2. Kencom Sacco Homes Runda
The homes are to be built on 1/8 acre plots. I thought minimum plot size in Runda is 1/2 acre. Are these projects really in Runda?

They should have put up the homes on 1/2 acre plots and created another runda...i.e a Runda B since they are on the edge of Runda estate. Runda Mumwe did well to adopt Runda standards though I understand original Runda guys refused to admit the new runda mumwe into the Runda Association (since they see them as middo class runda wannabes).

these estates are on the boundary of runda which is controlled by ncc laws. These are in kiambu part of runda controlled by kiambu county laws which alow for 1/8th acre plots. There are talks in progress to connect runda and paradise lost once these estates are complete. As Iron Sharpens Iron, So one Man Sharpens Another.

I have never understand why pple want to associate with what they are not. A house built on an 1/8th of an acre cannot be equated with one on 1/2. Soon there will be estates with names like Runda Winds denoting those along the path from where the wind from Runda blows. @gathige..its human nature. Every person likes to associate with what they consider of higher value compared to the rest. Business people, including developers will use this and use it to favour them with the Runda winds, Runda xyz etc names coz this sells. There is a high cost housing project in Naivasha with a very funny name. If it doesnt succeed, it will be coz of the name. Kihingo Village, with a funny name, was a successful high cost housing project though. As Iron Sharpens Iron, So one Man Sharpens Another.

I thought border ya kiambu na nairobi is along that road to paradise lost, with the estate being on the nairobi side. the wazees who own the land around the paradise lost area have refused to sell so far, unless the kids do after they pass itakuwa ngumu opening up that area - but at least it would connect the edenville guys to runda also

@nakujua..true. The nairobi kiambu boarder is along the road to paradise lost. The exact position is the river on the left had side of the road . Nirobi Kiambu boarder is also along dagoretti market tarmac road, with the lenana school side as nairobiand the other side of town as kiambu. In the paradise lost area, there are 3 massive estates coming up 1.accountants association mhasibu 2.kcb bank pension 3.Runda paradise As Iron Sharpens Iron, So one Man Sharpens Another.

There was a 'kwaheri' stage at bypass zamani. I think I used to see a CCN post there.

Hata hiyo ni 1/8 per house.

There are talks in progress to connect runda and paradise lost once these estates are complete. Whenever I go to Kiambu and see those upcoming estates on rich agricultural land it's very saddening. Concrete replaces the red soil and the same soil is scooped by others to at least make their land "farmable". can't we as a country preserve agricultural land and use non-arable land for housing? I think the issue should be putting each piece of land to it's most productive use. If you owned an acre in kiambu next to Runda which option is better - 1. planting maize and harvesting 15bags in a year worth 30k OR 2. develop 2 upmarket houses on the land, rent out each @250k pm to get 6m per yr from the two houses. The acre of land will produce ksh 5,970,000 more per yr while under real estate than when under agriculture. However if the acre was in rural Kinangop or kilgoris potatoes or maize would be the best land use option. I think kenya still has enough land in the rural areas for crop production.

The problem now is we have so many people in congested spaces who end up comsuming sewer vegetable. Imagine if minimum plot sizes in Kiambu was made like 2acres so that pple can live and farm in same space. It has been proved that people living in semi-urban areas live longer as they have better quality of life. Congesting like 4 families in 1/2acre creates stress, you wake up everyday to meet the people you don't like. "Things that matter most must never be at the mercy of things that matter least." Goethe
