Quite interesting.

Very insightful. I agree with the writer. In the comments section

Like this quote in the same vein - parents spend too much time preparing the path for the child and not enough preparing the child for the path.

Good points.

The society in itself has gone to the dogs. See how some people, make some lustful comments about women. Most of them are married and have children.

I was disgusted by the International media and how they worship Lady Gaga and its see through clothing. And recently Miley Cyrus and her pantless attention!!! And she is only 20 years old!

WHat happened to the beauty from within? Working hard, good morals, ethics etc?

Men's aptitude for childcare may be reflected in the size of their testes, according to a study by US scientists.

Researchers found that men with smaller testes were more likely to take charge of children's bath-time, visits to the doctor, night-time comforting, and other parenting jobs than others who have larger testicles.

I'm glad mine are turning out right so far... smile

Simple schedule that I developed when they were young:
- Mon to Fri: to school, on return shower, then small home chores assigned by my wife, then homework, then dinner and bed by 8:30pm
- Sat & Sun: Madrasa in the mornings, returning home at 1:30, lunch, nap, snacking, then homework, until Asr prayers (for those who don't know, this is 4:30 Muslim prayers), then followed by playtime for 2hours. Play is around home, approx 1 km radius, or within the main Estate gate. This includes bike, skateboard, big toy cars & planes etc. They can choose to remain indoors and play if they choose. Curfew time is 6:30, shower then Maghrib prayers at around 6:45pm, then house chores, then dinner and sleep.
TV is very minimal to my kids (even myself, only news!!!)

So their time became very occupied and no space for idle stuff (you know what I mean)

Now the grown one,
has enrolled in football club near where we live, on Sat & Sun afternoon until 4:30pm. He's nurturing his talent there... I used to drop and pick him, but nowadays he's responsible, he just picks his ragsack and go.

My take: its Show biz i guess...I dont think a kawaida person even huko ulaya will dare walk around like Lady Gaga or Miley....the only thing is letting our children immitate these people and not telling them the truth about whats one TV and whats reality.

Those stories of kidnapped children especially the one on Talia have made me very watchful of my children. I will keep a close eye on them for the time being- i just can't take any chances. Remember also those two women who tried to steal a child at Reinsurance Plaza?. Behaviour can be adjusted with time but a kidnapped child can be lost forever
