I live outside Nairobi and the story is the same all over. lately the number of armed robberies, murders, petty thefts are at an all time high. Visit cafes, bars and other meeting places and the talk is, so and so was shot, 2 thugs in a motorbike raided an mpesa shop, gari ya nani iliibiwa tyres usiku, wezi walienda house to house raiding...eish its too much. It's a pity most of these criminal activities have been overshadowed in the media by the happenings in Mandera, Garissa and Bungoma.
It is a curious fact that of all the illusions that beset mankind, none is quite as curious as that tendency to suppose that we are mentally and morally superior to those who differ from us in opinion.

ditto. lately, i have also heard stories of thuggery involving guns and people getting shot even without resisting being robbed. These new breed of thugs are just trigger happy

The Kimaiyo boys lack motivation and also ofcourse several small arms must have entered the country during electioneering period.

Last time I was surprised to learn that I stay in one of the 'most dangerous' places in Nairobi. Some of my neighbors contested this of course.

But every now and then I am told one of my friends has been killed. Then the stories I hear about other danger spots? I can assure you that there'll be no police reform if we'll go the way of the bullet. And things may just take a turn for the worse.

I believe the way forward is effective and tech savvy community policing, increased legal awareness, and basic cultural reform.

Just 2 weeks ago somebody I knew was shot dead by the thugs. I read on the Sunday nation of some robbery in k-south by some armed youths(luckily they were gunned down). My frind who lives in Kasarani tells me that its worse there.

Crime is at all time high right now. It is scaring. Everyday I hear of a crime.

What I wonder is, how many thugs are out there? So many are shot and killed yet they are all over!

To me, Kimaiyo can't and won't be a solution. Every time, he is always giving endless excuses.
