Tatu City- believed to be the largest private real estate project in Kenya- may not beak ground at all!

Stephen Mwagiru, a shareholder in Tatu City Ltd, is seeking for its wind up. The ownership of Tatu City Ltd was laid bare on Friday (16/11/2012) following an embattled court case.

Contrary to popular belief, the "real" owners of Tatu City maybe foreigners!

The information in daily nation is very shallow....but I appreciate their effort...I though he/she had a deeper source

What does the constitution when read together with the new land laws say about foreigners owning land in Kenya?

Its no secret that the real owners and financiers of Tatu city is Renaissance Capital of Russia!

Which Kenyan has 240B to invest in the planning, roads, power, water, sewer infrastructure? The financiers have to get a profit from the project, whether we like it or not. At the end of the day Kenyans and foreign investors will be left with a nice city to live, play and work in. It doesnt come free of charge.

All this the Gov should have provided but failed to do so, hence why they are offering tax breaks and other incentives.

In my opinion the Gov should have been a partner in the project, by providing free land or buying the land and handing it to the developers. The price of the serviced plots in the city would have been much cheaper and affordable to the common mwananchi.
Life is short. Live passionately.

The 240b is not expected to come from the primary project developer! It will come from secondary developers who will buy stakes in the project and build the homes and offices as directed by the primary developer... it is a "planned development".
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

Trust this fellows not to sink a penny into this project. They want to sell the infrastructure bit to another party. Met them last year and the idea was live then.

Does it mean dreams of Tatu City is materializing after years of court battle?
The quarter-acre and half-acre plots in Kijani, with leasehold titles, are priced at Sh7 million to Sh13.5 million. The price includes a five-year service charge, according to promotional materials seen by the Star - See more at:

Tatu City is just but an example of a failed project that could have provided growth and boosted the economy.Tatu city was a good project but the owners became greedy with hyper inflated plot prices.
Right now nothing is taking place due to lack of funds.
All in all Tatu city is a dream that will never materialized.
