Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone as ever used Ilamos air cargo to send goods to kenya and whether they've had any problems. I used them to send goods in April, 2012 (Air Freight) and was to be delivered in approximately 4days. Up to date the goods have not been delivered. Initially I was patient and gave him the benefit of the doubt when he said that there was a problem with the airline. It's now 10/06/2012, he's no longer answering my calls nor texts and neither is their guy in Kenya. Needless to say, I had also paid the freight charges in advance. Can someone please advise? Has anyone else had a similar experience with them? I would really appreciate all the help.

You do biz with some wolalo based in UK and they ask you to collect your goods from their warehouse in Eastleigh??

Are you serious? What is ILAMOS? are they even registered?
Take a look at their website and God help you.

The name Ilamos is Somali back to front. I wouldn't trust such a dumb brand.

From their website.

Thanks for your replies. I had actually used them 3 times prior to that to send goods and was delivered with no problem at all. I guess it was a case of the usual conmen..pretend to do the right job the first few times to gain trust and then disappear @essyk on a hindsight perhaps it was foolish, but had no reason not to as I paid in advance for my previous. Anyway, If anyone has sent any goods with them, and encountered the same problem, please post here

@kimbelembele,
since the guys seem to be registered and operate from a physical address in UK, can't you report them to the cops?

@money whisperer my next step is to take legal action and report them to the relevant authorities of which I'll be doing this week. I hope anyone else who reads this keeps away from this so called company. They've caused me a lot of distress and inconvenience.

I've used these guys several times... but not lately...

Its true they are a breakaway from Salhiya..

Of course there's bad blood between the two so in some cases sabotage...
Ilamos are cheaper than Salihiya, but Salhiya are more efficient

Hiyo story ya four day to deliver has never existed... Its more like 10 days with Illamos... 7 days at best!

Its too early now but I could check on them later... (after 10am- UK time)

@jwatha I can understand if it's 1wk to 2wks but I gave them the goods to send in April which is approx 7 weeks to date. They last promised that the goods will be delivered on Thursday last week and this is from Majid assistant as he's no longer answering my calls nor texts. I've left messages for him to call me back but he hasn't. At one point I even asked him if my goods were lost or a case of sabotage but he said no just problems with the airline. Surely if there is nothing to hide then why would he not just contact me and explain? Salihiya are more efficient though expensive hence the reason I used Ilamos

Strange.... I have been trying to call Majid and his 'crew'(for lack of a better word)... but no answer (all cellphone numbers... no landline)
+447536103005 (Majid)
+447932781190 (crew)
+447939960365 (crew)
KE no. 0722142240 (Hassan)
I did not try Hassan.May be you could try him.

I haven't used them lately, so you may be right.

I was giving them the benefit of doubt... considering I had used them for at least a year upto around Jan this year.

Their 1 Derby Road, London E7 8NH, was a sort of garage lock-up shed behind a row of shops as opposed to a Shop front or a Unit in an industrial estate. Though the place seemed reasonably equipped there were no offices.
May be I should have seen this one coming.

I will attempt to reach them again... I have always had the impression (now apparently mis-guided) that warias are honest.

Pse stick to African Salihiya Cargo.
Have used them to send goods from all over the world
without a hitch for many years.

Sometimes cheap is expensive. But
pole for the mishap.
I don't want to reach the end of my life and find I just lived the length of it.

I want to find I have lived it's breadth as well.

@jkmwatha thanks. My contact in kenya has been trying to reach Hassan but has not been answering his phone for the last week or so. I even tried it myself but again it just keeps ringing. He went to their offices in nai bu was told that hassan was not in and the guy could give no more info. Can't get through any of the numbers today as seems to be all switched off. Obviously I could just walk away and count my loses by I'm not going to do that . I truly thought he was an honest business person.. Oh well

@ new-farer believe me I've learnt my lesson lol yes used salihiya in the past and no problem at all. It's just that they increased their prices so much but as u say indeed sometimes cheap is expensive.

Thanks for posting this, otherwise I may have been rocking in the same boat you are. I've spoken to Majid several times over the 2 months to send some stuff. Last time I contacted them (about 2 weeks back) I spoke with Majid's assistant who told me he was in Italy and would be back the following day. I called and was supposed to arrange pickup but waiting on some feedback. Now that am ready to send and have the packages ready, I cant get ahold of any of them. Wasnt sure who to use as a backup option, but from comments on this board, I will go with Salihua Africa guys and pray that they wont go AWOL as well. I only thank God, that I hadn't paid akina Majid beforehand. Wishing you all the best and please do let us know what comes out of this.

@Vi Thanks. Strangely enough I could still get through over the weekend though they never answered any of my calls. He's certainly gone underground. I hope your goods get there. I know it works out better to pay them beforehand but my advise, pay for them upon delivery in Kenya. I'll certainly keep you posted.

@essyk Don't be hater. This behavior can be exhibited even in other tribes. And we know better which ones for that matter. So do not rush to accuse because we know who are more trustworthy on wider scale.

Of course this behavior should not be tolerated. When this person decided to be in delivery business, he should demonstrate professionalism. He should communicate to his customer and not just go underground.
