I wrote a report for DCI Webster in about 1991 arguing for closure of all the US Bio-Warfare Labs.

Although the focus of my report was why the Bio-Warfare Labs should be closed, the issue of the HIV virus developed by the Ft. Detrick lab formed about 18 pages of my report. At the time I wrote that report, the vaccine for HIV that had been developed in 6 months of work, had already been used by the Cabal since 1983.
It was a crime against humanity that the virus was unleashed on the world, and it continues to be a crime that the vaccine has been kept secret and for private use only. Meanwhile, the outer research to get to a vaccine is an exercise in how not to arrive at a solution before millions more die. The initial "hopes" for HIV per its designers was to be able to walk into Africa and take the resources from a ghost continent. They had hyped it as killing everyone there within a year, in their pre-release reports.

The Origin of Aids.

Back in the early 70's or 80's, that is if my memory serves me right, some researchers went to Congo and had some experiments with the chimps there. Later on, they had the chiefs force the villagers to participate in the innoculation process or they would face severe consequences hence the HIV pandemic all over the world.

this was a very informative documentary, i have since bought the book. It seems very plausible that it was accidentally transmitted from Chimps to man in Congo through the polio vaccine trials of the 50s.

Back in the day in med school I went to a symposium by Prof Kihumbu Thairu. He believes it was fabricated. In fact he said if I remember correctly that the reproductive system for black Africans has a higher affinity for interaction with the virus. That's the theory.

Wangari maathai was once quoted saying she believed the same, but denied it When asked on the same (obviously coz she was a Nobel laureate)

From that documentary it appears the virus is carried by the African Chimp in the Congo. Looks like other monkeys like from india used to make polio vaccines didn't have it and these scientists just assumed the congo chimp was 'clean' too discovering much later that it carries the virus. this is professional negligence and someone (s) need to be hanged.

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) may have affected humans for much longer than is currently believed. Alfred Roca, an assistant professor at the University of Illinois, thinks that the genomes of an isolated West African human population provide important clues about how the disease has evolved.

HIV is thought to have originated from chimpanzees in central Africa that were infected with simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV), a retrovirus. "If you look at the diversity present across SIV in chimpanzees, it suggests that they have had it for tens of thousands of years," Roca said.

HIV-1 Type M, which accounts for 90 percent of human infections, is believed to have crossed the species barrier into human populations between 1884 and 1924. Roca said that it may have crossed much earlier and many times, selecting for genetic resistance in isolated rural populations while remaining undetected.

"Some of the scientific literature suggests that the persistence of HIV in humans required population densities typical of the larger cities that appeared in West Central Africa during the colonial era," he said.

If HIV crossed the species barrier many times, it is possible that selection favored protective genetic variants in the affected populations. Roca and his co-investigators looked for evidence of this selection in the Biaka genomes.

The Biaka are a human community that inhabits forests in the range of the chimpanzee subspecies believed to be the source of the current HIV pandemic. The researchers compared Biaka genomes with the genomes of four other African populations who live outside the chimpanzee's range.

Biaka genotypes were available through the Human Genome Diversity Project, which collected biological samples from 52 different population groups across the world. The project genotyped these diverse human communities for single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs, pronounced "snips"), or genomic variation, at around 650,000 locations across the genome.

Previous research that used cell lines made in the 1980s from individuals who had AIDS or were believed to be at risk for it had identified 26 genomic locations as being involved in resistance to HIV. Kai Zhao, a graduate student working in Roca's laboratory, examined these locations.

Zhao ran all 10 possible pairwise comparisons for the five human populations and looked for selection signatures. Specifically, selection for a genetic trait tends to reduce diversity in the surrounding genomic region within the affected population, increasing the differences between populations.

The researchers looked at the genomic regions that contain genes known to have a protective effect against HIV to see if there was any overlap with the selection signatures. Eight of the comparisons found overlap. Seven involved the Biaka.

They identified four genes in these overlaps that code for proteins affecting either the ability of HIV to infect the host cell or the disease progression. The researchers also found that for several genes, SNPs associated with protection against HIV-1 were common among the Biaka.

"You may detect a signature of selection, but it doesn't necessarily mean that selection has caused it. It's just a good sign that selection may have occurred," he said. Also, the signature of selection may span several genes, of which only one is actually protective against HIV-1.

However, he said that the results are intriguing and indicate that this line of research is worth pursuing.

"If additional studies confirm that these genes have undergone selection and that human populations in the region have some genetic resistance to HIV-1, one could try to find additional genes in the population that may also be protective against HIV but have not yet been identified," he said.

I don't think the origin of HIV/AID matters, the question should be, why did it spread so fast in Africa more than anywhere else? Is it because we are irresponsible sexually?

First it originated in Africa from Chimps and secondly with a collapsed or non existent health care system patients are unable to control viral replication and lastly we have a genetic disadvantage (we have no mutation on the CCR5 gene).

cant seem to find the article...but virus was here for millennia...there were accounts in haiti and congo of people wasting away and dying well before the 19th century probably due to blood to blood contact with monkeys.

in the 1920s there was a wide gay community and a steward(named patient zero) was linked to the spread throughout the gay community.The virus was not so virulent back then and heterosexual transmission was rare.It was actually called a gay disease....it stayed largely unnoticed until the 80s when it was identified.

its amazing the virus became prominent as the cure for syphilis ( penicilin) was discoverd.

in the old days syphilis was like AIDS...incurable and lethal...with surprisingly same symptoms and length of infection(15+ yrs)

imagine if they get a cure for AIDS...

What biological catastrophe decimated Europe 700 years ago? The Black Death. One-quarter to one-third of the Europeans succumbed between 1347 and 1350. The Black Death strongly modified the European gene pool, increasing the frequency of CCR5-delta 32. This mutation may not have had any direct effect on the plague itself. It may just be a quirk of fate that the survivors of the Black Death had a higher frequency of the CCR5-delta 32 mutation, and it is doubly quirky that the mutation confers a resistance to AIDS, which is a recent human affliction.

About 10% of whites of European origin now carry the CCR5-delta 32 mutation. The incidence is only 2% in central Asia. The mutation is completely absent among East Asians, Africans, and American Indians.

However, i also have to say that CXCR4 utilizing strains can still infect patients despite CCR5 mutations. Subtype D prevalent in Kenya utilizes CXCR4 frequently.

Do you also know that African will also be the first to adapt to living with the HIV? My studies on subtype C are pointing to that direction. Infact the reason why subtype C has spread so fast is because this subtype is less aggressive in vitro and in vivo and is able to propagate further due to invisibility. This are some of the lessons we learn when we compare HIV-1 and HIV-2 via epidemiological studies.
