In better language, the school did not perform well because it is located in Rarieda constituency or Siaya County but rather because of the students' hardwork, that of their teachers and the coperation of parents, who I believe come from all over Kenya. The goal of uniting Kenya requires that we think like this as opposed to harboring parochial tendencies.

Instead of celebrating Alliance's performance, reporters are taunting them asking "Of all schools how can you be beaten by a school called Maranda." Very sad

Very sad The journalists are usually empty and probably camped at Alliance waiting for the announcement that it was tops. The unexpected happens and without adequate briefing, they resort to their natural selves; asking stupid questions. Where did they go to school anyway? Next to the politicians, journalists are the second most serious tribulation facing this country. The level of education of the ordinary journalist is of such a low index that majority can not play a role in agenda setting. Instead, they are reduced to reading tired cliches like "rude shock", "lets crack the numbers / over to the financials" and the most nauseating one; "...today engaged the police in running battles". There was a guy in my high school who was so poor acdemically (not to mean that academic excellence directly translates to professional competence) ,in school yet he has a column in one of the dailies. His articles are usually poorly researched and can can always be challenged on logic. The few who are able to engage their inner faculties when talking to viewers like LO are quick to destroy themselves...or leave for other sectors like Kathleen

Aint that nice for a change. Congraturations to Maranda. They are Kenyan citizens and the much we can do is celebrate with them. By inference, the man is all that Mr Phantom is not: an untrustworthy radical, divisive, too many enemies, a dictator, and a persistent liar...Gaitho dialogues.

Boys have dominated the top positions nationally in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) released Wednesday. In the top ten positions nationally, boys took seven while girls managed three. The top student was Nalianya K Job of St Peter's Seminary in Eldoret followed by Gikonyo Victor Gitau and Odhiambo Emmanuel both of Alliance High School. The top girl was Lonyangapuo E Chelagat of Alliance Girls High School and came in fourth nationally. 1. Maranda High School (261 students) 2. Alliance High School 3. Alliance Girls School 4. Starehe Boys 5. Mangu High School 6. Moi Girls High School 7. Kenya High School 8. MaryHill Girls High School 9. Pangani Girls School 10. Starehe Girls Centre. DN website Anyone with figures of students who sat the KCSE for the above schools? We have sub-standard journalism "Maranda High School emerged the winner in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2011 results released on Wednesday by Education Minister Prof Sam Ongeri" This above is taken off one the social media newsfeeds of the "authoritative" media house's online news edition. According to them, the KCSE was a race or competition and Maranda was the winner. When the rest of us are trying to chnage the mindsets of our youths so that they see exams in the right perspective, our media mon***s are doing the reverse. Why don't they go ahead and tell us who the loosers were? Or what Maranda has won? To think they would probably put the best (brain) of them at the handles of a social media newscast, which is the equivalent of a loaded canon. Arhhhg!
