Banks are in worse environment than last yr as in 2010. These financial stocks are in a loss consolidation for now before they selloff again when Q1 results come in. High inflation & sky high CBR has just presented tough barriers for lending income expansion.

It'll be a play abt who has the least NPL skeletons growth rather than profitability.

It seems BBK will the first bank to report their full year earnings , based on these i am expecting their results to be good. Usually they are late in announcing their results.

I expect banks to report "normal" profits despite operating in a difficult environment last year, most banks made a good killing during the intrest rate madness late last year. Looking forward-2012 will be a difficult year for the banking sector, with low uptake of loans and high inflation rates.

With the way the banks were shorting the shilling I see nothing but increased profits for the big banks.

BBI will solve it

someone was expecting equity to announce by the end of Jan? ha ha. nice one. give them time. good things come to those who wait.

BBK announcing on 16th?? this will be good, wanna stua. They will lose their pride if they are knocked off number 1 spot. they'll do anything to hold on to that. Let's see whats this they have cooked very quickly.

KCB will also announce on 16th.. Judging by how quick that was they have probably taken the top spot in bank profitability smile

BBK.. 12.05 .. smile ..highest dividend yield so far..assuming dividend remain as last year's..or better.. and in a year the NSE is UNLIKELY to outperform last year.. and plus its a fact BBK will be most profitable bank..again..despite not as aggressive as the others in year-on-year growth.. a probable 11% return (dividend) for whole year is cool.

ProverB, why go for BBK then if you reckon NSE is unlikely to outperform 2011?
I would think that 20% (while it lasts!) from the govt. is way 'cooler' than the 11% from BBKsmile

Then they'll have to put in a super duper 4Q
PBT's as at 3Q 2011:
BBK 8.9 Billion
EQUITY 9 Billion
KCB 9.1 Billion
