belatedly...Kenya Airways should be exciting this week and going forward. Dividend hunters or investors or a combination of both...who've realized the worst in this global recession is behind us are entering this undervalued counter...a demand of 271,700 against a supply of 28,100 today according to http://www.richlive.co.ke/ An unexpectedly early recovery in the tourism sector is underway.. If you were planning to board KQ sometime soon, why not now and reap some dividend while at it....when the negative hedging factors reduced you will be well placed to ride the tide.

Dividends?

According to Kenya's Company Law, a firm cannot pay dividends until its Revenue Reserves are positive. KQ has a NEGATIVE Shareholders' Equity [aka bankrupt] of 6bn. Therefore it needs to make 6bn PAT just to cover that item.

Then it needs to 'recover' the Revenue Reserve Losses. KQ needs to consistently make 6-10bn for 2-3 years before it can pay a dividend.

Time is money, so money is time. Money saved is time gained in reverse! Money stores your life’s energy. You expend your energy, get paid money, and store that money for a future purchase made in a currency.

Buying KQ, at any price, is the most ignorant thing an investor can do.

KQ IS DEAD!

The Kshs. 60B that they are asking for is enough to establish a new airline. Maybe call it AirKenya, Kenya Airlines etc

Here is where I have a problem with KQ. The management seem not to know what is hailing the airline. Yet the senate seems to have some ideas - an outsider know more than the management ? Am I reading right ?.

So even if you bail KQ out, what will the management stop doing in order to stop making losses. May be time there was change of management

There is no Return on investment from KQ.
The company needs a rescue plan it's a sinking ship.
Management has no clue;
KQ needs a CEO that has extensive experience in running an airline and in turning them around.
The current CEO Ngunze and CFO Alex Mbugua have no such kind of experience

Hehe. Sikondi. 1.50 is unlikely to ever print.. Maybe on Home Afrika, not KQ

@Obiero, you sound like my cousin drug addict. You know it's wrong and you want to stop, but you can't help yourself. the pull is just too much. If you're not in KQ, just watch from the sidelines, there are much better options without the ulcers and sleepless nights. Nobody expected the results we got, it was a shocker, this share ain't for the faint hearted or the impatient. Whatever little I hold I bequeath to my son! I have no hope of ever making a profit from this soon.

Im in this for the long term.. I worry not.. All I can note is that the pilots who tried to run down the airline via delays/cancellations now have their jobs on the line.. Fleet reduction will see them jobless and they will likely not be engaged by any other carrier coz of the go-slow background.. Heshimu kazi!

They have to handle their wage bill, employing university graduates to be hostesses has not resulted in better customer service, but definitely a higher wage bill. Serving drinks on an airplane with a degree just makes one a glorified waiter. They demand higher salaries but service is still bad. Leading to incredulous ticket prices and they get creamed by other airlines. KQ culture needs a reboot. The mountain is steep, the road long, but it can be done but sacrifices have to be made.

You cant blame KQ for that...its the country that we live in some estate was looking for an estate manager (fancy name for a caretaker) ,16 fellows applied who had MBAs you dont even know the number of degree holders who applied...
