2011 Q1 EPS 89.42
2010 Q1 EPS 50.50

An inclease of only 40 bob even after selling williamson house. Something is wrong here.

Wisdom to detect when share prices hit rock bottom.
When interest on bonds keep going up, you know the bear run is on high street. When interest on bonds start leveling, the bear has met the bull and they have hit rock bottom. When the interest rates on bonds start coming down, the bull has overpowered the bear and you better be riding the bull.

2011 Q1 EPS 47.90
2010 Q1 EPS 23.58

Excerpts from the Williamson report

Commentary of the Results

In addition, the group realized the sale of its investment in William House and gains realized are included in the 6 months performance

The cost of doing business in Kenya continues to be a great concern to the Group with energy, fuel and labour costs continually increasing.

I was expecting the 500 million divided by 8.7million shares to realize a 47 shillings increase on top of increased returns from exports during a weak shilling period.

This guys need to be sent a Bill Lay to shake things up there.

My friend please google these:
1. proceeds from sale of assets
2. gain from sale of assets.

The million was merely the proceeds from the sale which is not distributable

If you strip out the gains from william house the H1 EPS is 72 which brings a forward FY2011 EPS of 140 on normal operations...

No interim was declared. If anything, the management is not expecting the current performance to be replicated in the remaining part of financial period. KES trend, energy, fuel and labour costs will not do them good.

Erm, someone please explain to @thedeal the differences between 'Sale Price','Profit on Sale' and 'Proceeds from Sale'...

Here is a hint: Balance Sheet, P&L and Cash Flow...

What are you on about old man? I was commenting on the gain not the selling price, gain on disposal of assets=selling price-net book value

@the deal
In your article you said "the 500million gain on the sale did not exist as was being purported but was instead 144million"

'Turnover was flat at Sh1.5 Billion ( 2010, Sh1.5 Billion), EPS surged by 77% to stand at Sh89.42 from Sh50.50 last year buoyed by the sale of Williamson House which netted them Sh144 Million instead of the Sh500 Million reported in some media circles, shareholders will also be disappointed that there has been no special dividend declared as alleged by one of the company's top shareholders when the news of the sale of Williamson House broke out'

Sigh, perhaps Namibian accounting is done differently...

Ask @guru for tips.. @the deal
In your article you said "the 500million gain on the sale did not exist as was being purported but was instead 144million"

Though let me ask... what does "the 500million gain on the sale did not exist as was being purported but was instead 144million" mean???

So who purported a 500mn gain on the sale?
*I read your so-called analysis & could not understand what you were trying to say*

Anyway, what do I care... I am IN THE MONEY...
