Oh, we wont raise prices, oh no adjustment...

They're already fleecing us with forex adjustment, diesel adjustment, probably Gichuru legal fees adjustment etc.

They installed a pre-paid meter at my home.

on 20th April, 2000 bob got me 132.10 units.
on 06th June, 3000 bob got me 192.60 units.
on 30th June, 3000 bob got me 138.30 units.

Almost a 50% hike in cost of power....

I wish we had some sort of consumer watchdog here...I'd sue their *ss!!!!

Yet in yesterday's news they were saying that consumers with prepaid meters would not know when they are conned by KP because they have no way of keeping records.

Only in Kenya do you give bad service and charge goodwill and a premium for it.

BBI will solve it

Yenyewe they are big liars....They said they will pay dividends on or before 31st May. A month later we are still waiting. Will they pay us interest on delayed dividends?

I don't know what to say or how to say it but sample this:
I used to pay between 3500-4000 p.m using the old meter. I've now pay over 5500 p.m.

17/6/2011: 100/= got me 38 units
25/6/2011: 500/= got me 29.1 units
28/6/2011: 500/= got me 25 units.

I reckon that the less you pay the more you get. This is unacceptable what to do???

Actually, its not true that the more you pay the less you get.

The fact is power costs have gone up 50% silently, and we're now feeling the pinch.

The more power you use, the higher you pay. Monthly usage of 50 units or less are at a lower band than 51 - 1500 units. Try to make purchases of 50 units and below each time.

Yes, power rates have gone up. There's increased use of diesel meaning the increases in fuel prices have had an impact. Couple this with the fall in value of the Ksh against the dollar. What KP does is pass these costs to the customer since they don't add to the company's revenues. Its simply passing the cost directly to the customer.

While your anger and frustration is understandable, it is important to note that they had planned to hike the BASIC power rates. Then they retreated.

And regarding the apparent increase after installing pre-paid meters; this is just a coincidence. You new meter came in just before the "Gichuru Legal fee" and other adjustment went up. I haven't got a pre-paid meter yet but my bills also shot up... and I am equally angry!!

Considering I had no power the whole of yesterday, I wonder if they keep up with these blackouts, I should be lowering my bill soon
