Wazuans,

I need some advice please.
I am an accountant by training.Finished CPAs in December 2009. However I have never practiced as one. When I graduated from campus where I had pursued an Economics degree, I got a job as a market researcher with a very well known research company. However, I recently got an offer to work as an accountant for an individual with a multi million business empire.
The problem is I had worked for a small company before and I did not like the experience hence I am not sure whether to go down that road again and I don't know if when I decide to move on again, whether experience working for an individual vis a vis working for a large company will be enough.
Part two of the problem is that with this new offer the pay is almost the same as the job am in but the advantage is that I'll be gaining experience as an accountant.
I'm in a bit of a fix. Some advice please.

@ Mapozi

The best advice i can give you is to follow your instincts.
The so called small multi million businessman maybe a stepping stone to your success. You may learn the tricks of being as successful as and maybe become 1. Meanwhile you'll create a vacancy where you are working for another soul to benefit.

Why in the name of all things beautiful did you take a degree in economics and later study accounts?

Which of the two do you enjoy?

what is your mission in life: to make a lot of money or to make a contribution to humanity?

Which of the two choices will help you achieve that mission?
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

@Chemos, let's see how it all goes then maybe I can hook you up with the company's contacts for you to do the necessary.
@Jaina and @bendi3, thank you very much for your insights
@bwenyenye, I'd like to work for some time then I can venture fully into business
@mukiha, believe me when I was in campus, doing CPA was the in thing we all believed it would give one a competitive advantage in the job market which is somehow true.I will take time to ponder on how I can achieve whatever it is that I want but definitely making lots of money is one of my goals.

WAs about to ask the same question but a different issue. What is in a name? Not considering college fee, if you given a choice of studying in STRATMORE University and INOORERO University, which one will you choose?
Doors of opportunity don't just open , they have to be unlocked & it's up to you to turn the knob.

If you are a guy, then i would say, try the "business man job" but have in mind that the job should be a stepping stone to your own company. Get contacts, learn the ropes and the mistakes etc, earn his confidence and trust and you will learn alot... that is, if he does what you would want to be doing in future... if he is a pharmacist and that's not your way, avoid it...

if you are a lady, I'd say, join the business man only if you are willing and have the guts to jump out and start tarmacking in the event things become "elephant"..... As a policy, a one-man show has always been a no-no N.O. for me.

Kensaf... Strathmore? aaaannnnd INOORERO? haha!
