Did someone say deathbed? And where did Robert Yawe go to? He was screaming his head off that Eveready was such a good buy fundamentally. Some people! Argh! NKT! How this company trades above 10 cents should be a new wonder of the world.

There is this talk of relocating.
I dont think eveready has any solid future.
I've some few Eveready shares bought primaliry coz of their cheapness rather than based on fundamentals. I'll dispose them at earliest opportune moment and with tail between my legs head to the nearlest mututho outlet.

OoOoOoO after a mere PAT of Ksh 8.7 M in 2010 now they have out done themselves by posting a Ksh 72 M loss...what my blog suggests is much better.

1. Eveready suffered redundancy payments...one off cost or what? I f yes, maybe thats a relief?
2. Eveready has changed strategy(too late) to importing cells made in low cost zones. Good thing?
3. Nakuru factory can be used to do anything....Any thoughts here?

Based on the new strategy/alignment it have better resuklts in the near future. Not recommending it as a buy, just not willling to write it off just yet. Who knows??

Eveready is a company that have a future due to the strength of its brand name and its supply chain.

The company is being hurt by high operational cost and cheap imports which has rendered it uncompetitive.

Plans are underway to cease local production this might include selling its plants and concentrating on marketing and supplying of cheap imports. This will include outsourcing most of its production processes.

I still think this company can pull a surprise in future but as things stand a miracle will be needed to save it from increased competition from Asian imports.

with the influx of rechargable torches from china and more and more dumping of cheap batteries from china still,i do not believe Neveready stand a chance to resurrect (coz It has died) in the near future of vision 2030.

My advise to the company is to go chemical wise like Haco and join hands with established companies either locally or abroad.

The eastafrican region requires different types of chemicals from personal use or farming and Neveready has the capacity if they venture in this diversification.

It is said that shopkeepers in Moi Avenue once went to complain the old man Kenyatta that they could not sell their merchandise in shops because of unfair competion from hawkers selling similar merchandise on the strrets, many times at their verandas, and yet they were paying for licences, taxes etc.
The old man listened to hem intently an then advised: Why don't you also just take out your merchandise from the shop shelves and sell it from the veranda infront of your shop?
Why don't everready also just sell the cheap imports instead of whining from morning till evening!
