My car has a problem with the front left wheel and my current mechanic is not able to sort it out. Your suggestions highly appreciated

if you probably feel insulted by what I have said,am sorry but i am talking from experience and I have no apologies for what i have said.

on the other hand I know what I appreciate about my fellow kyuk brothers and when time comes for me to publicly say it I will. But about workmanship,some or most of them are horrible. I hope am not like them as well

@Mkristo - I am familiar with Peugeots - think BUSHES. If the ball joints,tie rode ends,rack ends are all ok,it could be the bushes. the front has between 8-10 bushes and the one on the LOWER ARM,the one with metal-rubber-metal - could be the culprit. A good way of confirming this,have you noticed any unusual tyre wear?


Failing that,did you have an accident recently - maybe the chassis (sub-frame) is bent - one simple way of checking is to park the car VERY straight - front wheels straight. Then get a tape measure and measure the distance between front and rear hubs of each side. if you get even a difference of 5 mm....your sub frame might need a body jack to straighten it out. Even if it was not an accident,Peugeot's subframe's tend to rust quickly under the front left side - why? because just on top of the sub frame is the....(drumroll)....battery and corrosion wears down the chuma,weakening it. Try checking those two before you call Mr Jaduong Omera. Having said that,if you are in the westlands area,go to Caltex (the one near waumini hse) and ask for Edward.

@Mkristo - the mech should ideally replace all bushes - if he has done the ones on the lower arm here is what happens - a strong bush will start to uncover the weakness in the other bushes - it will be stroing than they and thus pass more load and movement to them - so while to his eyes they look OK,once the car leaves the garage and drives for 5 mins,they will not be ok since the new lower arm bush will pass on weight to the old bush - the other important bush to look out for is the one that goes to the stabiliser bar (the one that meets the lower arm at the hub and strut).

the shock mountings were won out. also the drive shaft had not been tightened by the previous mechanic when they opened to repair the CV joint.

I liked the way he was detailed in his diagnosis. It is not every day you'll find a mechanic who knows his work well.

I guess it also comes with experience.
