i acquired a large chunk of this stock @22 in anticipation of good fy 2010 numbers based on their half year perfomance.I'm eagerly waiting for the results. Anything less of 100% growth will force me to sell all of them immediately. Is this achievable?............ “Invest in yourself. Your career is the engine of your wealth.”

You and me both @ngapat. I sold Oooh so many KCB to buy this share, in a fit of rage (selling was Ok, the emotion ill advised)
Hmmn the winds and sands of time. Should I or should I not have... My anticipiation is high and time will tell. KCB has appreciated 50% since my decision.

U do realise no dividends will be paid till 2014. so chances of appreciation are minimal in the short run, medium run- a slight bump up, and in the long run, if they meet their targets, it should be very rewarding. hope ur in it for the long haul.
now why did u sell kcb?

HAhaha @Muthwamunene.... It being a Friday, your apt comment reminds me of a scene I once watched in a movie:
"Remember the secret to riches, is the same as the secret to a good wine - TIMING"
Selling per se was not bad, but my goodness, the timing ?!!@##!

now why did u sell kcb? Appreciation will not be based on the dividends they pay, but the value/growth of the business. Look at ARM, with peanuts of dividends they pay, the share was almost touching 200! Equity too has been growing not because of dividends..talk to WB

The absence of dividends will cushion the share from the wild fluctuations experienced around dividend time. Hence the steady rather than meteoric gains, but gains nevertheless A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work

The management's strategy is to grow the net book value by investing in novel projects like real estate and power. They are reducing exposure to the NSE and no dividends planned for the next 5 years. There will be growth for the year to march 2011 because of recovery of quoted portifolio esp in Q2 2010, and improved profitability of unquoted associates all from a lower base. Otherwise for the next 5 years expect a growing balance sheet (capex driven) but minimal growth in profits. Life is short. Live passionately.

now why did u sell kcb? I think our market is usually more excited by bonus shares than by the few cents that most companies give as dividend. Any idea on whether Centum will issue some bonus shares this time? The company will be announcing its results for the year ended March 2011 on Tue, 7th June 2011. And BTW, if i am correct, The last time Centum paid a dividend was in financial year 07/08 and the 5 year strategic plan stipulating the no dividend policy is running up to 2012.

Good demand and some price action, but so far, its a correction on the dip from 23.5. Lets see if this will continue past 26 A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work

Bravo Jaro. I doubt that ordinary folks like us will be allowed to attend though. Centum will seriously be upping their game with the entry of the likes of TransCentury and the British American into the NSE. So I can only expect better things. these guys are betting big on the real estate venture. I understand the reason they exited carbacid is to raise money to fund the real estate investment in nairobi and entebbe even though they still believe carbacid has alot of potential. I think i'll change strategy here and include it as my long term investment. “Invest in yourself. Your career is the engine of your wealth.”

maybe JUST maybe a 1:5 bonus or something like that. Only 11 days remain before the big announcement. History will not remember you for your IQ. It will remember you for what you did. “Genius is 1 percent inspiration, 99 percent perspiration.” Thomas Edison
