I could have picked about 50,000 KQ when it was 20 and every one was saying this is a junk stock! Now I know what I should have done. Never listened to any one during when I started accumulating CFC, CiC, KCB and Stanbic UG. Even the real junk Kenya Re.

@qw a lot of Kenyans log or check Wazua on a day to day basis thats why companies advertise on this forum..lets act our age...lets act as professionals...lets not degrade this forum...saying someone should be abused or banned is wrong...insults have no place on this forum...we agrre and disagree...a story should be told on both sides...lets not be bias...if u believe KQ is Junk give ur reasons...if its Blue chip motivate your answer...

Can KQ mantain their profitability?

@Deal.. Something I read last year and learnt to apply in my investing

"..He hurried over to Boston to interview Mr. Reinhart and ask him a few questions. The questions consisted of repeating the accusations he had heard and then asking the president of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad if they were true.
Mr. Reinhart not only denied the allegations emphatically but said even more: He proceeded to prove by figures that the allegators were malicious liars. The Pennsylvania Dutchman had
asked for exact information and the president gave it to him, showing him what the company was doing and how it stood financially, to a cent.
The Pennsylvania Dutchman thanked President Reinhart, returned to New York and promptly sold all his Atchison holdings. A week or so later he used his idle funds to buy a big lot of Delaware, Lackawanna & Western.
Years afterward we were talking of lucky swaps and he cited his own case. He explained what prompted him to make it.
"You see," he said, "I noticed that President Reinhart, when he wrote down figures, took sheets of letter paper from a pigeonhole in his mahogany roll-top desk. It was fine heavy linen paper with beautifully engraved letterheads in two colors. It was not only very expensive but worse -- it was unnecessarily expensive. He would write a few figures on a sheet to show me
exactly what the company was earning on certain divisions or to prove how they were cutting down expenses or reducing operating costs, and then he would crumple up the sheet of the expensive
paper and throw it in the wastebasket. Pretty soon he would want to impress me with the economies they were introducing and he would reach for a fresh sheet of the beautiful notepaper with the. engraved letterheads in two colors. A few figures and bingo, into the wastebasket! More money wasted without a
thought. It struck me that if the president was that kind of a man he would scarcely be likely to insist upon having or
rewarding economical assistants. I therefore decided to believe the people who had told me the management was extravagant instead of accepting the president's version and I sold what Atchison stock I held..."

@Deal
my thinking.. my own..

KQ..everytime the share price drops..the more value it packs.. ceteris paribus.. current fundamentals DO NOT support previous pricing above 55Bob..where it was before 2009 results were published..

..thus the reason it is a better buy today..than last week.. better value for every shilling invested today in KQ than evry shilling invested last week..

On matters fundamental..
That KQ is expanding is not in doubt..that KQ is having increase in passenger/cargo numbers..no problem..
my worry..over the years..cost of every passenger in transit has increased..and continues to increase.. The same with every unit of cargo..

when all is said and done..KQ will witness greater revenues this year.. BUT for every shilling of revenue..KQ is spending way more than it used to! thus my fixation with operating margins!....for evry shilling in revenue last year.. 97 CENTS went into costs!!! seriously? 97% of revenues are eaten up in costs..

For every new passenger/unit of cargo..how much is taken up in costs?

Hedging portion of their business is covering up the operating margins short falls by boosting earnings..how long will this be?

Is it prossible that KQ is charging just TOO CHEAP for its services in bid to expand within a very costly business environment??..could we find a way to replace Naikuni with Michael Joseph.. Drool

Mr Naikuni has never ever presented the probability of doing things different all those years..his focus is marketing and PR.. so eager to get 1 more customer and therefore will not dare charge for services offered at profitable margins..
ergo lethargic staff, waning staff morale, pathetic service..(as cheap as the pricing)..tooting how "bright" the dept working on hedging is!!..just wondering..what costs were incurred in setting up and eventual shut down of non profitable domestic routes..

could the ceo be spending money he does not have to impress people he does not even care about tryin to deal with competition?

this isn't fair to especially Long Term Shareholders..
