Today in Nation's family magazine pullout, a family counsellor says that gayness is learned. Who would want to be gay with all the stigma attached if they could be straight?

The forbidden fruit is always sweet.Have you heard of a gay bull or Monkey(since we are close relatives)Being gay is an excuse for people who want to act on their fantasies.

Being gay is the same as bestiality only that you are doing it with a fellow human.

I can hazard a guess to your question:
- gay people will say its genetic and they can do nothing about it
- heteros will say it is learned/ acquired.

http://www.nytimes.com/2...gazine/04animals-t.html

Various forms of same-sex sexual activity have been recorded in more than 450 different species of animals by now, from flamingos to bison to beetles to guppies to warthogs. A female koala might force another female against a tree and mount her, while throwing back her head and releasing what one scientist described as “exhalated belchlike sounds.” Male Amazon River dolphins have been known to penetrate each other in the blowhole. Within most species, homosexual sex has been documented only sporadically, and there appear to be few cases of individual animals who engage in it exclusively. For more than a century, this kind of observation was usually tacked onto scientific papers as a curiosity, if it was reported at all, and not pursued as a legitimate research subject. Biologists tried to explain away what they’d seen, or dismissed it as theoretically meaningless — an isolated glitch in an otherwise elegant Darwinian universe where every facet of an animal’s behavior is geared toward reproducing. One primatologist speculated that the real reason two male orangutans were fellating each other was nutritional.

''according to Dr Mwiti (CEO Oasis Africa, a counselling organisation that says lesbianism is on the rise in kenyan schools), that homosexuality and lesbianism are not genetic, but learned behaviour.

'We know from behavioural psychology that what is learned can be unlearned,' she says.

Mwiti says that homosexuality and lesbianism are learned behaviours, which are validated in much the same way as people given to alcohol or drugs come to consider themselves alcoholics or drug addicts.

But while alcoholics and drug addicts can seek help through Alcoholics Anonymous and other rehabilitation programmes, “Homosexuals are taught to believe that they are normal.''

forget those studies have you ever seen any local animal exclusively practicing homosexuality. And secondly A one off event when an animal is on heat does not make those animals gay.

Even if we make the assumption that it is learnt behaviour; are we saying that we have a right to dictate to two consenting adults what they do to each other in privacy?

...i have never seen a bull "do" a nother bull, nor a lion "do" another lion. If the lesbians/gays argue that we leave them alone practice their freedom, then we should leave Mukombelo alone "do" whatever best to his chicken and goats....

I believe pple in Sodom and Gomorrah used to say that until gay men started harassing visitors(angels).

You know, people say they are liberal on this issue until it happens in their own household then you see their true colors.just imagine your son, dad, mum, or any close relative turning up with a guy of the same sex and telling you they are in love.

I watched The Lab in KTN and this issue is captured by the CEO of the company who is Gay.Accepting such orientation is not only hard to those who claim to be gay but hard to close friends and relatives.

@Selah, I wouldn’t use the story of Lot as an example, this is a guy who offered his daughters to be gang rapped in place of the visitors. Which normal father would do this?

Oh wow. @Selah, you like The Lab. It is simply Fabulous. I like it too. And also Jacob's Cross. After Season 8 of Mr. Bauer, these two have become my favourites on Telly.

Pity you are a man. I would have ...... (sic).

Why is this behaviour rampant among kids who attended boarding primary schools, at least that was the case in my high school........
