If I was Kirima, Id be pretty upset with my kids for claiming Iam mad (whether true of not true). Actually the fact that the mzee understood the summons shows he is not mad. - 3rd wife or not.!

This Wife looks like has found herself on the right side of a bitter row and she is now making sure she get it all.

If I was kirima Id give split all the property to Grand kids. Nothing for the kids or that 3rd wife!!

everyone needs to be objective here...Wanjiru could be taking advantage of the situation and forcing the old man to say stuff coz to me he looks very senile..(not necessarily mad)
The kids could also be taking advantage of the fathers status and pushing Wanjiru out...so what option does she have.....lock them out of course..and rigth there bad blood between the two parties develop...
After this, it is kila mtu kaguu niponye niponyeke na as much as possible..
The mzee becomes neglected and acts as a pawn for all these parties...

Please listen to the media but never ever believe the stuff they report..how come they will talk about the same person on the same page but give diffent age ( thats is in other stories I've seen before

If FB..the status of the above parties will erad ....

We seem to be lumping up all the kids together.. from what came out of that suit, it was only his elder son who they (thanks to the father) jointly own property that took the father to court. it wasnt all of the 12 kids.

1)KIRIMA: 3rd wife brought up 2nd wife's kids, no one sure she
wants property or not. Holding & pulling the old man's
balls for entertainment
2)KING MSWATI - his 12th wife caught eating sugarcane outside the
palace
3) ZUMA - one of his wives found getting rubs with one of the guards
4) AKUKU DANGER - a good number of his wives deserted him...

clearly too many wives are a REAL REAL headache guys! washana nao

Interesting discussion. Mkenya and Much Know seem to be on to something there.

This brings me to the bigger question of succession planning which seems to be lacking in the African culture. Maybe it stems from declarations made in this country during the 1970s where it is treasonable to even imagine the death of a mkubwa.

We have numerous cases where the patriarch passes on and the empire he so painstakingly built is dismantled by the first generation offspring. This is also the case in many businesses where the founder carries the vision to the grave.

Should we not as Africans seriously re-look at succession planning and matters of inheritance? Who says that the kids or wives have to run the businesses directly or property be distributed amongst the family members. This is the reason why in certain parts of this country, the land is subdivided to the point where it cannot even sustain subsistence farming. At this rate we will soon have large slums in upcountry locations in future generations.

If I was this Kirima man, I would establish a trust of sorts for the dependents/descendants and outsource the management of my companies to competent individuals with the right checks and balances of course. I think Philip Ndegwa has done this admirably with the First Chartered Securities Limited.

....its getting nastier...mzee Kirima is now admitted at Nairobi Hospital. He was allegedly literally bundled up by 4 administration police officers and forcibly taken away....Nairobi hospital should at least give out some statement....they will not even allow wife no.3 to see him...the old man must be under distress........the question still lingers; are the kids concerned of Kirima's wealth or health??

On this note, @ vinii, it doesn't mean when you pata more money, you marry many wives, inaleta shida kama hizi. Maybe it is wise to have many kids with the same wife with such millions

This might be a problem if you are in the dot com age bracket. Most ladies in this age bracket want to get at most 2 kids. You would need to call in the committee of experts, African eminent personalities [Led by Koffi Annan], Council of African elders [Led by Desmond Tutu] and threaten to call in Ocampo to even get her to kid number 3!!!

And there are those men like Njung'e who interpret the bible literally. They insist the bible says we should fill the world, not our homes!!
