Before u diss Unga to be illequid...ask yourself how many issued shares of Unga are out there? How many Unga shares are the Top 10 shareholders holding? We have counters on the NSE that go for days without trading i.e BOC...CARBACID...WTK...MARSHALS...e.t.c...so come Monday Unga will edge higher....20% of my money is here....

ever since m.o.i forcefully took over,it became a money pit...it needs a change in management to really shine and potentially become a ten bagger
The utimate goal of investing is to buy low sell high;if we re-write this core equation in psychology terms it becomes buy fear sell greed.

liquidity of a share...how many of the shares are traded daily...is dependent on your volume interest.

Assume back to January 5th 2010..30 weeks ago.. to date Unga has traded 2,603,200 shares... on average that is 17,300 shares a day..

consider also, the counter has never witnessed a one-off bulk volume transfer within the same period...

This also implies that as long as you have a total volume of trade of at most 6,000 shares..you can sell off easily once you put an order to do so.. for you the counter is liquid.

for someone with >20,000 shares..that is a different case.. not all shares will go on one trade..making the counter illiquid for them.. a sudden sell off of over 20,000 shares of unga is enuff to change market direction for the share price..

guru, I think VVS got the point I was trying to make when he said, "buy 5 or so good firms, at good prices with good managements... & all will be good..."
You don't need a degree in statistical economics (or any other for that matter) to make it in the stock market.

I have been around since the start of stockskenya.com as a reader smile
So far the unga thread made me want to comment since it has both ayes and nays going blow for blow with no let up smile Quite healthy for any discussion unlike one-sided action. And no, I'm not an expert. I don't like that expert term. The so called money experts have overcooked the global economy and they claim not to have seen it coming?! If you overcook, the food burns and they couldn't smell it? Burnt food looks like this... Sick
Anyway I combine both technicals and fundamentals to determine buy levels or re-entry levels and exit levels, but prefer fundamentals for long term entry. If you view the NSE 10 year chart, it is still bullish NSE chart - select the 10 year option compared to e.g. Dow Jones US Dow Jones - 10 year trend Those two charts show you where your money needs to be without doing this Brick wall

@youcan'tstopusnow - Ati you're willing to wait until the dinosaurs comeback Laughing out loudly +5000 marks for being more than long term and +1000 for being original than WB Applause

I have also tried and it seems to be down.
Time is money, so money is time. Money saved is time gained in reverse! Money stores your life’s energy. You expend your energy, get paid money, and store that money for a future purchase made in a currency.

@underweight....cant believe u also noticed the co-relation...in 2008 it was crazy, online systems went AWOL...U would run to your broker place sell orders at best price on everything but they would delay executing while youre haemorraging 7-9% a day...and when you felt it was too late and cancelled the sell orders they would rush to sell at the already oversold rockbottom prices and tell u it was already executed...what a crazy game...it was then that I knew the NSE was a mafia/satans bourse.

@underweight we all know there will be a market correction but should you sell... HELL NO... The rebound will be much stronger because the fundamentals are still strong...

No change in fundamentals of the companies. Plus, Kenyan economy on a growth trajectory and most importantly of all, political risk of investing in Kenya considered minimal/investor confidence boosted after peaceful referendum. These are the reasons I will not sell. Plus i'm not a trader (difficult to trade with such expensive charges such as the 2.1 percent commissions for every transaction. Contrast that to the N.Y.S.E which charges a fixed rate of 0.00025 dollars (2 cents) per share. ama nimeona vibaya? phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=129145&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=878156&highlight= try copying and pasting the address to the address bar if you'd like to access the site with the info
