We have counters on the NSE that go for days without trading i.e BOC...CARBACID...WTK...MARSHALS...e.t.c...so come Monday Unga will edge higher....20% of my money is here....
liquidity of a share...how many of the shares are traded daily...is dependent on your volume interest.
Assume back to January 5th 2010..30 weeks ago.. to date Unga has traded 2,603,200 shares... on average that is 17,300 shares a day..
consider also, the counter has never witnessed a one-off bulk volume transfer within the same period...
This also implies that as long as you have a total volume of trade of at most
6,000 shares..you can sell off easily once you put an order to do so.. for you the counter is liquid.
for someone with >20,000 shares..that is a different case.. not all shares will go on one trade..making the counter illiquid for them.. a sudden sell off of over 20,000 shares of unga is enuff to change market direction for the share price..
