ready or not, here I come...(fugees)

wyclef is a very talented musician who can play instruments and also sing solo and other vocal roles.

he is in good company: the arts have been a springboard for a number of individuals to ascend to the presidency: Hugo Chavez (venezuela), Joseph Estrada was a film actor(Phillipines), Madagascar preso (was a DJ!)...

This guy actually has a song called "If I was president". It goes like this:

If I was president X2
I'd get elected on Friday
Assassinated on Saturday
Buried on Sunday

Hope for him it doesn't go as "planned"
GOD BLESS YOUR LIFE

Just days after announcing his intention to run for president of Haiti, Wyclef Jean stopped by the Rolling Stone offices to discuss this "new chapter" in his life.
Jean outlined the main issues facing Haiti as it recovers from the devastating earthquake that struck earlier this year, how his presidential bid was inspired by Nelson Mandela and anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko, and why his lack of political experience might work to his advantage in office.

Jean says "the number one problem in Haiti is corruption," and in addition to repairing the nation's infrastructure, he would make it a priority to move all of the earthquake-displaced citizens out of their makeshift tent cities and into "agrarian villages" that will provide basic necessities like food, water and shelter. Jean also foresees a solution for the unemployment problem. "With everything going on in Haiti right now, the contracts that will be coming in within the next six months to a year, you should be able to put a population to work right now."

He didnt qualify after all...too much ado about nothing.
some kanu youthwingers wa Haiti scared him also:

'Wyclef Jean has been sensationally dropped from the list of potential candidates for the Haitian presidential race.

The former Fugees star announced earlier this month that he planned to branch into politics by running for the presidential seat in his native country, which has been left stricken after a series of devastating earthquakes rocked the island earlier this year.

However, despite being Haitian by birth the 37-year-old rapper failed to meet the criteria needed to make him an eligible candidate because he has not lived in the country for five consecutive years prior to the election date and has never complied with Haitian tax laws.

“He is not on the list as I speak,” an official for Haiti’s provisional electoral council told Reuters.

It’s understood that Wyclef’s decision to run for the presidency was not well received in his homeland, with his lawyer admitting the star had received threats from people telling him to think twice before putting his name forward for consideration.'

You mean he hadn't checked if he qualifies? Given that he's lived in the US for most of his life and is probably a dual citizen, he should have checked the requirements the very first day he entertained the thoughts of running for president.

Either this guy is not qualified to be president [can't even counter check obvious stuff] or he was just pulling a publicity stunt. I don't know which is worse!

Wyclef Jean is in stable condition after being shot while campaigning

Musician Wyclef was shot in Haiti right before election day. According to initial reports, Wyclef was passing through Delmas #65 in Port-au-Prince when gunmen opened fire on the vehicle he was riding in. He was shot in the hand.

Though initial reports online claimed that Wyclef died after being shot, that proved to be untrue. Pras confirmed via Twitter that Wyclef was shot in the hand and will be ok:
