thanks Guys

I think i'll stick with the subaru forrester, its big enough, 4wd, and doesn't attract too much attention

The only question i have now is about saving money

lets say i imported a 2003 subaru forester, approx how much would I save over buying one locally?

I've been told $2,000 by the importer, but i'd like for you guys to comment on this as i'm sure he just wants the job!

thanks
Apparently, I'm a Nigerian scammer :(

How much you save depends on the FOB price. Be careful not to get a worthless car just because u intent to save. Look for someone who will get you a car in very good condition.
With subarus you don't want a car that you will need to change major parts once the car lands. For instance Shocks should atleast last 6 months, Engine parts like Sensors and timing belt, Radiator should also be in good condition. NOTE: subaru's stock radiator usually has issues especially the upper body of the radiator ensure its in good condition you don't want to ever over heat a subaru need not to worry much tho they are readily available at RELAC.

Hey Bwana Davies/Mark,
Consider bringing in something from UK. If you are there, and want something 4wd that wont attract attention, then a forrester is great. But tell you what, if you will be coming to Kenya on assignment, you will want to see the country - if I were you, I'd get a real family 4WD. The cheapest by my own evaluation is also quite reliable - check out Isuzu Troopers. The best thing about it is you can get one at sub-5K gbp. It will take you anywhere and as long as you take care of the intercooler, the 3.0 turbo diesel will run forever!

I am a contrarian in the sense that it doesn't matter what's selling, the thing is are you getting value for your money? The trooper will give u great value for your money.

Get me on cwmuchai at yahoo dot com and I can tell you more. It's easy to import - and you do all the payments yourself and get due receipts, so am not going to cheat you or scam you or any such... my partner in Uk is sending a nissan Patrol (which I didn't advise based on your budget) from Woodbridge, Suffolk On Sep 6, so a container is available that we can share if you ship about that time.

I'll have a think and consider sharing a container

What prices are the container for you, and would you be looking to split the cost?
