Company is good ....Has limited liability ...can own property in its name..can sue and be sued...has perpetuality ....ie death of one member does not mean its end..

....and it is easier to register (no checking by NSIS!!)
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

@Mukiha,

How and where do you register a Chama (self help)? Any links that can help me with more info. I need to report to my group. Help if you can.
You will know that you have arrived when money and time are not mutually exclusive "events" in you life!

my maiden contribution.
@XSK, chamas(self help)are registered as welfare's through the ministry of cooperatives.Its not much of a process, but it safeguards your interests and opens for growth as you modify as you grow and develop since registration gives some generalities for the future.

@Mambokesho,

You can make it easy and register it as a business name. It is easy and no returns to make!

@mambokesho you can register a self help group (shg) at the ministry of social services who require a list of members and officials, a constitution signed by all members and you can collect the registration certificate in the time given by the community development assistant or CDA, most start this way and either progress onto saccos or even limited companies, hope this helps
