Kuna wengine waliahidi katiba kwa siku mia moja, lakini mpaka sasa bado hawajaitimiza (There are those who promised a new constitution within 100 days, but they are yet to deliver)." said Mr Moi during a No rally in Wote, Eastern Province on Wednesday.

"And they are quick to blame," he added.

Its getting messy!

I believe Kibaki erred in throwing the first salvo.

In this exchange whose nose will be left more bloodied!

What Moi does not get is that, by actively campaigning against the Proposed Constitution, the referendum is inevitably becoming a referendum on Moi's years of torture, theft and destruction. And I have a hunch that Kibs' advisers told him to throw that salvo so as to precisely bring out that effect.

In the red corner is MO1 aka Man Toro. In the green corner is BAKs aka Baba Jimmy. There gong to be a TKO and only one winner.

This is all a Political Strategy. It's playing out like this: (employ and motivate and) place MO1 in the NO camp, and give him a free licence to talk and make public speeches and travel (on GOK and Tax Payers money!) instead of herding the goats all day at Kabartojo. Then, when the YES team eventually wins the Referendum (with an overwhelming majority), it will seem like a "bigger" victory. Since it was a battle won with the Ex-President on the other losing side. And this will give Kenyans hope in the new constitution and Kibaki's (and Raila's) Government. Kenyans are throwing stones at MO1 right now. Stop, it is futile. It is what you have been prodded and programmed to do. Trust me, when MO1 loses in the NO camp, he will have no hard feelings (no pun intended), will concede victory easily for peace's sake and I can bet my vagal nerve we will see MO1 again in 2012 campaigning. If the Grim Reaper keeps him here that long. All in all, the NO camp is less dangerous with MO1 in it, than with "Ticking-Time-Bomb" Ruto on his own calling the shots. That ensures no repeat of the 2007 scenes. Kibaki right now, with his tirade against MO1, is just adding wood to the fire, diluting the situation, and diverting attention. smile

I was 80% sure of voting yes on 4 Aug. After Moi's rebuttal am now 100% sure, and i pity the old man.

Shame on you Shame on you Shame on you I tend to differ. By going after Moi, Kibaki is shifting the defacto leadership of the no camp from Ruto to Moi. This way whatever mileage Ruto has been hogging in preparation to 2012 is going minimized. This could be intended to reduce Ruto's stature for 2012 so that the Green candidates stand a better chance for the presidency in 2012 and therefore ensure that the passed constitution is implemented speedily and fully (there would be no speed or completeness assurance if Ruto were to be president in 2012 seeing how NO he is)
