The markets has its definite seasons, just as farmers have...august,sept,october are usually down months....at least over 70% of the time historically...you should be very liquid by now for the planting season which is october-may...speculatively speaking that is...you would be truly amazed by the longterm results of such a simplistic approach.
The utimate goal of investing is to buy low sell high;if we re-write this core equation in psychology terms it becomes buy fear sell greed.

sheep, whatever happened to 'Past performance has no bearing on future...' statmeister, considering most people (I included) picked unga, kenol, equity, or mumias, most people will be in the red. The people who chose to stay liquid have the advantage.

If everyone has 5 picks, whether liquid or not, you still have a chance to manouver around and deliver a decent return.

I only kept 20k out of the 100k in liquid form because i know this advantage your talking about can only last so long... All those who are keeping high cash positions will lose out greatly after the results are announced

stats. i was late for making my picks. i do lotsa field work plus my mkikuyu fon doesnt help much with browsing, i think i should update to a jaluo phone with 3g and all this browsing features, hence couldnt make picks by 19th, i'll watch on the sides. though the idea is vey noble.

@stat.... I thought about the same thing... I'm looking to reduce my KPLC slightly so as to take advantage of any counter that decides to fall... I'll be watching KCB, Mumias and KK..

@ stat,

Weekly is fine you can just summarize by showing the closing portfolio value of each member both in figures and the %ge gain or loss.

@ qw lets see whose ass you whip first. Maybe u will receive a whip as well.

@ komera, you cannot make picks now (see my earlier note) as you would be having too much advantage on other participants.

@Deal, you are still holding positions in 6 (NIC, KPLC, KQ, Unga, MSC) even after your sell orders. KK would make 6.

Week 1 Results:
Some participants have placed orders larger than allowed. I reduced their lowest (in order of listing and in even lots) to fit within non-negative cash balance as follows:

2012: EB reduced from 1700 to 1600
Kausha: Unga reduced from 1200 to 1100
Atiriri: Your picks don't look good. I had to put zero for BBK, BAT, KQ and reduced EABL from 500 to 300
QW: reduced AK from 2000 to 1000
Deal: Your latest order is on a 6th counter - not effected

All, please check you picks before posting to make things a bit easier this side.

Results are given in the following format:
(# of counters| Liquidity in shs| market value as at COB 23rd| %gain). A negative gain means a loss of market value.

Results in best to not best order . . .
