Helios is buying stake in shell Africa (BDAFRICA)how is this deal likely to affect EB shares in short terms and longterms basis. I think its another plus for the much maligned EB

Who says Equity is maligned? Good news for Equity coz Shell stations in Kenya, Uganda can be financed by Equity...

How are the two even related? What makes you think that Equity will be affected?

BBI will solve it

True but that's just one of the many options open to Helios. I bet they have other sources of funding at better rates. But for day to day operations, maybe.

Equity is not a long-term financing bank for an entity like Helios. The fees are crazy & interest rates are even worse!

I meant that local operators (Kenya & Uganda) may use Equity Bank for:

- Purchase financing
- Working Capital e.g. stocks
- Financing of related ventures
- Provision of banking services

Maybe i read from different world "MARS" I thought Helios bought a stake in Equity bank, thus I wanted to know if Equity might benefit from such a buyout of Shell if Helios has a stake in it. Forgive me if I was misinformed

how can Equity lend to a Helios owned company? that is insider lending and will have serious regulator requirements.

Huh? Nothing 'insider' coz Helios does NOT have a controlling interest in Equity Bank. Plus the deals/cash would be to Shell Dealers who are contracted with Shell/Helios. It is a loan like any other.

Nevertheless, they can still lend to them.. Other than disclosure, what are the other requirements? I mean Directors are always taking insider loans and don't seem deterred.
