Zain's 141 will pale in comparison to how many ppl EABL has and continue to send home!

its called restructuring.More profits for them.

Its just business,nothing personal....or is it?

It begs tha questin: where is the line between profits and ethics...

a company making tens of billions in profit still needs to lay-off staff..!!!!

i would understand freezing employment...but retrenching? naaahh...this is greed.

I dont think anyone will go home with any bottle of alcohol...leave alone a crate...lol.

I remember some years back when barclays closed down 11branches n send so many guys home..the dividend went up to 18bob from 14! And shareholders where thrilled...thus a question in last year's AGM one guy asked why they were so expanding again and would that mean lower dividends? Restructurin benefits topmost the shareholder..and the co as a going concern!!

Business Daily last week had a story about the falling consumption of alcoholic drinks. Wine was the least affected at 11%. Beer sales were said to be down by more than 40%. That is why you see people being sent home. No one knows anything about how long this downturn will last. No one is taking chances.

EABL smetimes is crap coz the last two years with their sponsored bulls*** christened 'Tusker project fame'

The thing was a flop and smeone was making a kill......by bringing fake guys ....one hit wonder...and then tell the shareholders that the project costed 250million each year.

This money is enough to structure their company without painfully restructuring by staff.

my point....we do not need those craps again(Tusker Project fame) they are a waste of money and end up to some hynas.....organisers.

This money is enough to diversify the investment and accomodate the staff just like they did with Central glass limited.

Kenya's beer is the highest taxed in East Africa. Gova raised taxes to crazy levels in Nov 2008 so prices of alcohol jumped (& EABL absorbed some of the increases).

No wonder they have to lay-off people to maintain their profits.

I cant agree even more with @Burning Spear...

EABL should focus on its key competency and shed off 'tusker project fame' which does not add much brand equity or value to its product line...they need to reposition smartly across the diverse market segments while not spreading too thin

Guys yu need to understand that Every Marketing Intiative has a TARGET Market.

Project Fame is one of those Marketing strategies that Targets Youth below 30 years who think being a 'SINGER' (Read Screamer ) is Vogue..AND SO IS Bingeing!

Project fame and the like will not influence the Drinking Habit of Tar-Sniffing-Sots like Njung'e and T-baridi..these are Jailbirds who will still drink anything mpende musipende!

One a more Financial Tone,EABL needs to Restructure after Upgrading their Brewing Plant to a More Intelligent and cost effective System that requires less Human intervention..These were the ABNORMAL LOADS they were Ferrying Late last year from mombasa to Nairobi..

Could it be they are looking more upon TZ and UG for production?......I say so course of late,most pubs in Nyanza,Western and upper RV are stocked with beer from UG.This more so for guinness brand.......and man,those Ugandans can't be using barley to make the stuff.Nikikamata tano kubwa nina delete......
