Applause I took my profit as I seek around and grasp any fleeting opportunity. It was nice riding with CFC Stanbic.Am seriously contemplating on picking some mumias before they announce their end year result. wats your opinion on this?

@sparkly. Its mumias because there'll be an explosion of the share price in run up to the results. In t.a we are taught that the longer any given stock staggnates the higher it'll shoot up when it breaks out frm that staggnation. A good case in point Barclays. Btw i see barclays hitting 75.00 because investors are really hungry 4 this counter.

Some say even 80 because it is trading at a 'MUCH LOWER P.E.' than its peers

@youcan'tstopusnow its not a "demerger" its separation of their Insurance portion to "stand alone"

Layman, thanks. But I just copied directly from the article which said, '...to kickstart the process, known as a demerger'

sorry for poaching your querry..considering i ain't qw..
..probability of Total "exploding in near future" is minimal.. fundamentals are good ..but had been better on a per share basis before the preference shares..Highest price the stock has hit within
last 3 year is about 35Bob..

Other factors affect the price rather than fundamentals..volumes traded, shareholder profile..few retail traders here..plus one of the few counters whose price cycle is largely based on dividend..its been an income stock for most people i Know..thus less susceptible to trader whims.

ProverB, being a dividend stock like BAT, wouldn't more interest in the counter push the price up? Plus doesn't the acquisition of chevron's assets bode well for the firm, preference shares or not? They will realise higher profits as a result of the synergies

@youcant.... Preference shares always spook investors because of the possibility of conversion and dilution... So the price is very much affected by this

guru, agreed. But that alone won't suffice as can be seen with the great rise of KPLC's share price. Plus any share conversion is not going to be any time soon

@youcan'tstopusnow One big difference is that KPLC preference shares are held by the government while Total's are not
