Any Financial Advisors in the house? What services do you offer and are you fee only or do you work on commissions?

@guru.... What services do you offer? Im guessing stocks trading on behalf of clients is included. How about insurance and tax advice?

It is always advisable to deal with a company than individual in financial advisory services.

It is not a matter of trust but that of statuory requirement.
.
- Individual can disappoint in terms of availability when you want to take a decision,

- Team work is absolutely necessary to make investment decisions

From the writes ups I see I believe Mr Guru267 is good, but does he has a legitimate financial advisory company with valid licence ?

For my friend KK (Investors lounge) it is difficult to tell whether that is his speciality, you know there are a lot of talents here, but it is a different ball game whether that is his area of specialisation and if he has a valid licence to operate.

I am not there in Nairobi but I like investment decisions of westland based Dry Associates
www.dryassociates.com both in Kenyanan market and overseas and they have a basket of fixed income products.

The only problem is their initial investment value may be high, you can also google to see other advisory professionals in Kenya.

I am not ruling out Guru267 & KK if they meet your requirements, but the gentlemen should have valid licence under company name to operate to provide adequate protection to investors.

This is my opinion.

Thanks young for the insight. Are financial advisors licensed by the CMA and if so what requirements do they need to meet? If the requirements are easy for any one to meet then this would disqualify the need to hold licensing with high regard. Whats your take on this Young?

young, guru is a miss. And I once asked karanja to offer his opinion on stocks and he said he reserves that analysis for his 'paying clients'. so I'm guessing he does that for a living.

@2cents,Have u realised those insurance sales agents call themselves advisors and they know not a thing on investments.I think its the high time we have a body that gives practising certs.

In the USA financial advisors are supposed to sit for a series of exams the main one been the Series 7. However @ my 2 cents, I think passion goes a long way as some people may have the certification required but no passion to carry it through so they offer no added value to clients.
In Kenya, most financial advisors are either the so called 'passionate-about-investments' type or those hired by insurance companies and unit trusts as sales agents with a fancy name. Makes you wonder. I have met a few of those sales agents and they all sound the same, as if reading from a script yet they are called Finacial ASdvisors. Alot of guys here at wazua can do a good job as financial advisors in my opinion and that is why I asked if there were any in the house.
