My fellow Wazuarians,

I need your help,

I would like to ship a vehicle to Kenya. I reside in the U.S. I believe one cannot ship a left hand car. So supposing i bought a car from Japan and shipped it directly to Kenya, would this qualify for duty free status considering i am in the diaspora?

Your feedback is highly appreciated.Thanks in advance.

Shame on you wazuans don't care where you reside, so stop that boast. Being a refugee in america does'nt make you any more special than the rest of us.
To answer your question, the import regulations are weighted against Kenyans in left-driven countries, this is because of a dumb little requirement that demands that the returning resident actually own the car for at least 1 year.

Therefore, your Japanese plan may work if you pay for the car now, leave it in Japan then 12 months from payment date, you ship it to Kenya to qualify. However, they will still get you when they see from your passport that you have never been to Japan.

Do this, go to alibaba and buy a right hand instrument panel (dash board) for your current car- if it qualifies- then get a Mexican to flip the steering wheel.

@Mwafrika31,

I apologise if that is how you perceived my query.That was not my intention..just wanted to clarify the left hand car issue and the resultant problems one faces when you ship to Kenya...but thanks for your input.

Some how; wazua has a way of smoothing out rough edges. Just you wait and swatch; Mwafrica will mellow out and shed off his/her harsh demenour.

I did not mean to offend anyone, after all this is a mature forum. I just felt that @story teller was on a narcisistic self aggrandizing ego trip that he was quite eager to invite us along, I was merely declining that invitation.
