They are not doing well. If KCB skipped dividend recently without much backlash, I think SCBK should be bold

They are not doing well. If KCB skipped dividend recently without much backlash, I think SCBK should be bold

The difference is that StanChart is a largely foreign owned bank that may prioritize profit repatriation. StanChart has adequate local capital buffers. These don’t need to be boosted through earnings retention. KCB on the other hand was running really low on capital 2 years ago when they retained all earnings. And the market has not fully forgiven them to date.
