If AI is a bubble and it bursts, well and good, we go back to our normal lives. If it takes over our lives and ways of doing things, well and good, I will be properly hedged!

I trust you've been following recent developments in the AI space.

In my view, DeepSeek breaks the "indispensable for AI" narrative around NVIDIA. Secondly, being open-source, DeepSeek R1 completely changes the landscape, and creates a level playing field, opening the door for more competition. No one makes obscene profits in such an environment.

This is only a personal opinion, not investment advice.

Here's a deep dive for anyone interested in the technical aspects. The article also provides a glimpse of the frenzy unleashed once DeepSeek let the genie out... very empowering for the small guys in the field.

Do you do offshore trading? @vvs and myself want to create generational wealth in foreign currency to protect it from the clowns messing things here with haphazard "policies"!!!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

No. I can't get my head around some of the PERs, etc

I'd go for Alphabet/google.
I think it has lowest PER of the magnificent 7.
Has diverse and growing businesses.
Waymo in particular is interesting.
Or just go for a magnificent 7 heavy ETF.

To counter the risk of an AI bubble how about US REITS some yield at rates that equal or rival Kenyan USD MMFs.
Most pay quarterly, a few even monthly.

Just thinking out aloud. Would investing in an energy generator like Kengen be an indirect way of investing in AI? A lot of Data centers will be needed. Those things consume a lot of energy. Those things also need to be geographically distributed across the globe to mitigate risk of adverse weather and natural events. Geothermal power is green so that would be a plus.

Kenya we are not yet at the data center boom stage.
We still have a lot to sort out in the basics first
