There is no sure bet. In 10 or 20 years the shares could be worthless Uchumi, KQ or Nation Media.

Mzungu dividend paying bank like SCBK whose dividends took me through high school & public university some 20+ years ago and whose dividends i am using to educate my kids can stand test of time (*did not inherit old man's shares , i bought my own SCBK shares*

OR just buy an infrastructure bond, educate your kids with the interest and at maturity gift yourself the principal because best gift you can give your kids is to support your retired self so that they don't spend their employment years paying black family tax.

None. Kula that money instead of spending it on kids who will likely do nothing for you in your old age. Laughing out loudly

I'm wondering whether the fitting title should have been
infrastructure bond for my children.

At current interest rates, your children would receive triple their investment, as long as you reinvested interest payments in similar bond, in just 7 years.

You should be thinking about your survival in retirement using returns from the NSE.

Or do what Saf did for those who bought at 40, 30, 25 d'oh!
Or Centum.
Or KCB.

I understand where @Muganda is coming from.

I am living on dividends and interest income.
Capital Gains are history for most counters.

In one of the threads, a guy called @Mihr posted the LOWS seen in March 2020. Most, if not all, prices are lower after 3.5 years!

Bonds are for old folks (for income). Money that has decades to grow belongs in stocks.
