I am cautiously optimistic.

KCB..final dividend of 2 bob
Fy21 dividend 3 bob
(incl 1 bob interim dividend)

EQUITY..First and final dividend of 2 bob

SCBK..Final dividend of 8 bob
Fy 21 dividend 13 bob
(incl 5 bob interim dividend)

ABSA..First and final dividend
of 90cts

STANBIC.Final dividend of 3.8 bob
Fy21 dividend 5.5 bob
(incl 1.7 bob interim dividend)

My argument is based on the need for further capital preservation occasioned by covid that have refused to subside .

Is there any BANK in FYs 2020 and 2021 that maintained the same dividend amount that it was paying pre-pandemic?

Final dividend of 10 bob for SCBK sounds about right. I've substantially increased my holdings of this defensive stock and averaged down as best I could. Currently about 48% of my entire portfolio.

At current stock prices and dividend yields exceeding 10%, people who are investing heavily now will reap big in the next few years. The last time I saw such sweet yields was in 2012 right before the raging bull market. Equity Bank stock has already doubled since the covid crash.

NB: 71% of all market returns come from dividends, not capital gains!!
