KenGen is a very good employer - just like KQ
KenGen supports GoK Agenda whether it is big 4 or 5000 mw or whatever GoK will think of tomorrow e.g build a non-profit waste-to-energy plant

- well connected individuals, for employing their kids (especially now that the employment moratorium for parastatals was lifted 2 weeks ago)

Current Market Cap (24B) is lower than at IPO in 2006(26B). And bear in mind that another 28B was injected during the 2016 rights issue.

Olkaria 1 (unit 4 & 5) have been offline for past 2 (or 3) months and geothermal power production is at lowest (= 310 GWh) for past 7+ years ...this is too long period to claim maintenance of plants.

Olkaria I unit 6 (83 MW) was due in 2021 and commissioning was moved to Q1 2022 and Q1 is over with no commissioning news.

Will KenGen have a profit warning this year?

Talk to someone from dandora control unit...they receive what is referred to as a merit order where it shows which power is required to be switched on from..number one mostly the new kid on the block..now that kid on the block power always needs a chaser (thermal).....

Repairs carried out by SRE, CTMI, and local partner STS have been successful in bringing the capacity of Olkaria II geothermal power plant back to the original 35 MWe.
Repairs have been completed for the 35-MW turbine of the Olkaria II geothermal power station of KenGen in Kenya. The repair work was carried out by a team consisting of Symba Renewable Energy (SRE), Chola Turbo Machinery International (CTMI), and local partner Soni Technical Services (STS).

The turbine was initially underperforming at 26 MW. An inspection revealed that issues with the first stage of the rotor caused the underperformance. After the successful repairs, the unit is now running at 35.4 MW. KenGen Acting Geothermal Director Peketsa Mangi and O&M Manager Samson Kimani said that the repair team “did an excellent job.”

More parastatals to be listed in the NSE. Is there a chance they will turn out as Safaricom or are more likely to be Mumias, KQ, KPLC types? Parastatals that should be listed:

1. KPA
2. KPC
3. Communications Authority
4. KENHA
5. KEPRA
