Pals KCB PAT tax up 19%.I have no words, with the rights money coming in they will have higher returns in the 2nd half. So the simba will roar further. I was told the share will go below 17. I assure you it will be over 20 by end of August. I am happy I bought the rights in the market and took up my rights.

I hope the share price catches up with the gud performance sooner rather than latter. Lol @ the deal. Ar u still waiting 4 it to fall. I think it wld b easier 2 wait 4 tha sun 2 fall frm tha skies. PAT was up 19% but note that they were limited on lending. In the 2nd half they will have more capital and less constrained to lend. There will be significant return on the rights capital. Hence final year results will delight. This is an opportunity, I see returns on this of not less than 40% by end of FY

@Pkoli,40% YOY will be a tall order, they would have to grow earnings in the second half by 60% compared to last year. That said even 20% growth at year end will give EPS at current pries of about 1.8 factoring in a full rights uptake. If only i believed in KCB's management ability to steer the bank into the future ,current prices look excellent.

@cnn, kizee et al. I am sorry I meant if you bought KCB at 17 bob you are likely to get a return of 40% by end of year. The stock will be around 24.

I dont think we should get too excited at this stage... Group PBT up 15%, but group profits lower than bank profits showing subisdiaries are in trouble... I have a feeling other banks will beat that 15% growth easily...then KCB will look like a laggard... My price target is 14-15/= post rights. Business opportunities are like buses, there's always another one coming

See the results at KCB Half year results 30 Jun 2010 to confirm @kulaRaha comments. I'm no longer a shareholder, having recently sold both shares+rights but must agree with @guru267 comment about marketing. Some companies have learnt secret to Coke, Safaricom etc. guru267 wrote:This rights issue better be a success... Because with all the marketing then there should be no reason for undersubscription Reminds me of a lion's mane: The mane of the adult male lion, unique among cats, is one of the most distinctive characteristics of the species. It makes the lion appear larger, providing an excellent intimidation display

Would this in future be the perfect takeover target for the big boys? Those of you following international business, I read somewhere that HSBC was snooping around SA, for a takeover target. Would KCB have a similar fate once the recession is officially over In the west?Presence in 6(correct me if I'm wrong) countries. I'm sure that once they stop the expansion, the eps growth should match the equities and stancharts. On the flip side, it is very poorly managed, in terms of ROA and ROIC. with the biggest assets, it should be able to generate much higher pat. Just curious as to the quality of these assets and whether they are what they say they are worth....

The rights issue closes on 23rd I think...its strange that theyve thought of releasing the "promising" results this early...ati all branches will break even in the next 6 months...trickery I tell you. The utimate goal of investing is to buy low sell high;if we re-write this core equation in psychology terms it becomes buy fear sell greed.

its just a matter of time before JM's EQTY or NIC,Stan Chart..DTB...BBK...CFC..drop their results that 15% PBT will be turned into a mere figure...but its up the market to decide weather KCB has done well...we will see how the share price responds tomorrow. ..

KCB can be, and should be, much more profitable than it currently is. The internal inefficiencies just cannot be shaken, as I understand the union runs the bank, and there is constant resistance to change and improvement. Further, there are staff there who have been hired by virtue of patronage. I dont think this rights issue will even be fully subscribed, and once the funds check in, dont expect any sudden great improvements in profitability as their inefficiency will not allow them to utilise these funds quickly and effectively enough. Business opportunities are like buses, there's always another one coming

If KCB gets the 15b, this can support assets of 125b (their current assets circa 150b). Literally they want to double their A/L. Question is, do they want to expand in Kenya (saturated) or rest of africa (loss territory)? A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work

Just looking through the results core capital/total deposit liabilities 10.6% statutory minimum 8%. Liquidity ratio 36.3% This lion has been taking too much deposits. Looks like GOK has to take up its balance of rights issue which was not sold if this lion is to take up more deposits from parastatals. Way too much potential if the rights succeed. Planning to take up double my allocation but I'm also stocking up on NIC just in case KCB does not deliver.

ON KCB the www.rich.co.ke supremo says : "Today (13.07.2010)kcb traded 78,700 shares and we are probably now crossing the Nadir in the Price. The Price moved preemptively ahead of a $151m Cash call [There have not been many that I can recall since 2008] but now looks set to base out and rebound from what looks like a deeply oversold Position. Supply was thin today and will probably thin out further......" Inlay mans language he is congratulating @sparly's investment in KCB because the price is very much oversold and a rally is about to ensue.i am also gettin in KCB tomorrow now i am convinced. http://www.rich.co.keYour future depends on your dreams so go to sleep !
