littledove wrote:https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/bd/economy/agency-to-purchase-poles-for-sh60-000-a-piece-3280264The Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) is seeking 15,000 electricity poles made from bamboo in a shift towards long-lasting eco-friendly posts. The company has started tendering for the poles from local firms, making the first time the composite poles will be used in a large-scale electricity transmission project. Kenya Power, Nairobi Metropolitan Service (NMS) and REREC agreed to start using the bamboo-made poles, diversifying from concrete and wooden posts-- which have a shorter lifespan and are therefore more expensive over time. The rural electrification agency will use the composite poles in swampy areas and zones infested with termites, which cut the wooden posts' life span to five years. Other people will eat well in this but shareholder will wait longer ........... REREC reckons the eco-friendly poles can last more than 75 years compared with less than 10 years for wooden posts and between 15 and 30 years for concrete masts. The state-run agency has set a cap of Sh50,000 for a composite pole compared with Sh25,000 and Sh12,000 for concrete and wooden posts respectively. Towards the goal of financial freedom

Looks like it will go KQ way. true, kq also started matatu business from cbd to airport before it went bust, signs are very clear There are only two emotions in the stock market, fear and hope. The problem is, you hope when you should fear and fear when you should hope

Kenya power owes KENGEN ksh.24 billion for electricity supplies as the power retailer continued to struggle in the course of last year. This is money that remained unpaid beyond the 90-day credit period set out in the power purchase agreements (PPAs) between the two firms In addition the amounts due from KPLC were on average outstanding for periods of 195-days which was way above the 90-day credit cycle provided for in the agreement between the two companies",said the Auditor General in the report https://www.standardmedi...for-electricity-suppliesWealth is built through a relatively simple equation Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle

Last mile project was a real disaster. It was done politically without looking at the value it will give back the company. The last Mile was a good idea to increase the customer numbers, the issue was the corrupt KPLC & government fools who turned it into a cash cow, thus increasing costs which KPLC will have to pay but can't directly recover from the mostly low income customers. “You can get in way more trouble with a good idea than a bad idea, because you forget that the good idea has limits.” - Ben Graham

Kenya Power HY2020/2021 https://pbs.twimg.com/me...rmat=jpg&name=small
Electricity sales grew by 0.7% from 4167GWh in a similar period in 2019 to 4196GWh. Fuel costs decreased from kshs.7.153bn to ksh.4.618bn attributed to less thermal generation. Finance costs increased to ksh.8.057bn from ksh.3.835bn due to depreciation of the kenya shilling against major trading currencies leading to an unrealised foreign exchange loss. The company has risen into a POSITIVE cash flow position of Kshs. 1.7 billion from NEGATIVE Kshs. 6 billion. Profit before tax of ksh.332million and profit after tax of ksh.138mn Wealth is built through a relatively simple equation Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle
