Hi Guys,

For income investors 2021 will be a notorious bad year due to capital preservation by most counters occasioned by covid.

There is strong optimism that by 2022 God willing the economies will gradually recover .

safaricom DPS let's wait for half year results first.

Yep " rafiki yangu" @Ericson (google translation) this is only for SAFCOM.

All others half year results have been out so there are some facts to evaluate and provide opinion

Safaricom have released HY results today.

Looks like Coop may pay a dividend. They really haven’t provisioned.

KCB 20B provision is Massive.

I wonder who is fooling who?

COOP hadn’t provisioned enough in Q2, Q3 Memba did a smaller provision. Is simba being extra conservative or are the others being ambitious?

Simba is being conservative and following international recognized standards, the others are either being over ambitious or have sinister motives like propping up share price.
For coop bank the skeletons (bad debts) of Jamii Bora bank now renamed Kingdom Bank will start emerging from Q3.

They borrowed to pay dividends early otherwise shareholders would have waited till mid November to December to receive dividend.
The borrowing was also for capital expenditures as they race to achieve 100% 4G coverage by end of the year.

Borrowing to pay dividends? 🤦🏽‍♂️

I don’t think that’s smart. I thank them for the early dividends but just isn’t prudent

Why has this thread not been moved from the property section all these years? d'oh!
In the final analysis, it all boils down to sheer plain old hard work and dogged persistence. Nothing more, nothing less!!
