[quote=maka]I think it is very clear that KQ would have been saved long ago... There was no goodwill to do the same... Who would have thought that Pilots and senior management would be taking less than 200K pm as salo. Allan is doing the right thing in anycase there is no other way to have the airline continue staying alive.

People should have been laid off long ago. Atleast the cabin crew and grounds staff should have gone way back in March or early April when the pandemic began. I said herein that he was just buying time and burning the cash that was available. Indecisiveness at its best.
They are going to get it wrong especially with pilots and when the business recover they wont have the pilots and the equipment to take advantage of.
Just as an example, the 3 B777s with Turkish are not going to be returned to KQ in 2023 at the end of the lease period and there will be a huge cost more than what they are covering now. Even if they reduce the no. of staff, it will be a drop in the ocean. The calculation of the expected numbers on savings being thrown around by him to the media is wrong. No disclosure of numbers should be done in an industry which is very competitive.
Allan is nowhere near doing the right thing. I can tell you for free he is very 'young' to run an Airline. What he should be doing now is put the focus on cargo/ take advantage of the nationalisation to build on cargo. He is telling the reporter 'eti' we need to shrink now and expand when the business picks up. There will be no expansion for several years to come without pilots and equipment. He wont be able to last long enough to see an expansion in KQ.
