MTN Uganda will be listing on the USE in accordance with a government directive. But no time frames have been given by either the government or MTN. I also hope they cross-list in the NSE since i'm not a fan of UMEME.

Quote:
Uganda has opened a window for East Africans to buy shares in MTN Uganda when the telecom operator sells it 20 percent equity stake on the local bourse.

The government is forcing all its telecom operators, including MTN Uganda and the local unit of India’s Bharti Airtel, to list a fifth of their shares on the Uganda Securities Exchange to allow locals to benefit from the sector’s profits.

“The shares are restricted to Ugandans, and also citizens from the East African Community (EAC),” Ibrahim Bbosa, spokesman for the Uganda Communications Commission, the regulator, told Reuters.

Waiting eagerly. MTN Uganda is the largest telecom company in Uganda, with 11.2 million subscribers, accounting for 55 percent market share, as of 30 June 2017.. Sad that Africa Alliance had to quiet down. They had very pleasant attendants

MTN will be seeking a valuation of $1.4 billion and will be raising $280 million.

Dyer & Blair and SBG securities most likely will be the brokers that will assist kenyans to buy the shares from here since they have sister companies in Uganda.

The current shareholding is MTN Group 96% ,other investor(s) 4%.

MTN Group will reduce their shareholding to 76% after the listing. The 20% will be offered to USE local and East Africa investors.

Who are the investor(s) owning the current 4% of NTN Uganda ?

Also the listing will be paperless/digital and will double the USE.

I wonder if they will peg their valuation to a PE of 25, comparable to Safaricom. That would be a bit rich. One has to be careful not to overpay. Can a numerate wazuan do the math on this and advise what would be a good entry price on this. Bearing in mind that most IPOs tend to be overvalued.

How did he get into such a prime position to get in on the ground floor? Or he is Uganda's Merali/Mobitelea?

KES 156,000 entitles one to "incentive" shares. This is spicy hot, at KES 6.2. Brings back memories of Stanbic Uganda in which I realized a ROI of over 300%. I'm inside https://www.businessdail...free-ipo-shares--3580118

Times have changed ROI of 300% on this is tough.
This is a mature company they are selling a stake
The incentive shares is a way of them enticing investors so that they achieve 100% subscription.

The 300% was nostalgia, here we can expect 100% regardless of "mature" status. The entity is profitable and dominant in Uganda, commanding close to 60% of the subscription base of 21m people
