Judge halts eviction of homeowners in Ngong forest row

For gazetted forest land to be hived off, parliament must de-gazette the land first.

Past land commissioners have been known to hive off and issue gazetted land illegally to politically connected individuals. The land would be later be sold and re-sold many times over.

There is lack of political will to address the land grabbing of gazetted forests and water catchment areas once and for all. This will cost us dearly in the near future. If you look at the case below, this was a simple open and shut case and should have lead to a conviction but alas the star witness was bought with a plum job posting.

The KPC Ngong Forest Land Scandal was a scandal that resulted in the suspension in October 2012 of Kenyan Government Minister William Ruto who was charged in court as a result.

Mr Ruto and four other persons faced fraud charges over the alleged sale of a piece of land in Ngong forest to Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) for Sh272 million.

You can't vote for the biggest land grabbers in the history of Kenya and expect them to resolve this issue. All of Kenya's presidents thus far have been major land grabbers. You reap what you sow.

It is already costing us. The constant flooding of Nairobi is in part because land that was meant for drainage channels was grabbed and built over. In some cases even riverbeds were built over.

The incessant traffic in Nairobi is in part because land for road reserves were grabbed and built over.

Lack of roads also makes garbage collection impossible.You can't operate large garbage trucks in incessant traffic. Hence sanitation is poor.

The City is poorly planned because all 5 presidents allowed land grabbing to happen with no checks and balances. Now even schools are losing their playing fields to land grabbers.

The City stopped following its master plan as soon as we became independent. No wonder 60% of Nairobians live in slums with no sanitation, reliable water or electricity.

Forest destruction is causing rivers to dry and temperatures are rising.

All because Kenyan leaders have convinced 90% of the population that tribal allegiance is the most important things. So the different tribes insult each other endlessly while the elites grab whatever is available.

Today the families of these elites are fighting over billions of Ksh in wealth. [/quote]
