This newspaper needs an editorial overhaul. When they come with a headline like this "Lack of diaspora evacuation budget has roots in Moi era", just shows mindset stuck in the Moi period.

Nation Media Group recorded a fall in net earnings of KSh 856 Million down from KSh 1.1 billion the previous financial year.

Turnover also declined to KSh 9.1 billion in 2019 from KSh 9.7 billion the previous year. Gross Profit declined from KSh 1.6 billion to KSh 1.3 billion during the period under consideration.

Total comprehensive income declined to KSh 826.6 Million from KSh 1.1 billion. Directors of the media house attribute this poor performance to higher prices of newsprint and a reduction in advertising spend due to an adverse business environment.

Directors have recommended a bonus share issue of one share for every 10 held in the capital of the company. These new shares will not qualify for payment of any dividend for the year 2019.

Thought that should be the interim dividend paid? The directors did not recommend payment of a final div.

The Nation Media Group (NMG), considered the largest media firm in the region, has announced plans to slash salaries for its employees, a move that seeks to cushion the media house from the impacts of COVID-19 that has seen business across all sectors take a dip, revenue-wise.

According to a statement signed by NMG Group Executive Director, Stephen Gitagama, there will be a temporary reduction in the pay for all staff earning a gross monthly income of KSh50,000 and above, ranging between 5% and 35%, depending on earnings.

The Group further reports that its Board of Directors has also taken a reduction in their Director’s fee.

From highs of 300+ to now heading for sub 20...that is quite a brutal ride. A double digit dividend yield failed to dam the tide. Buy and hold strategy hasn't been kind to its adherents these last few years.
The main purpose of the stock market is to make fools of as many people as possible.

That's why I have always argued that my "long term" is a series of short terms.
