board has proposed payment a final dividend of Sh1.40 per share amounting to Sh56.09 billion.

Book closure 30 July and dividend to be paid in Nov 2020

Awesome.
I hope they switch to two payments though (interim + final) as opposed to just one full amount once a year

Tricky as it looks like they are running some type of cash flow management program, they paying this div. 7 months after annoucement.

Weird right especially after it’s ‘lesser’ sibling are paying pronto

But they released FY results 1 month after close of financial year.
They usually announce payment in November but guys will start receiving dividends from late August/early September.
By November they hope to be done

Let me ask, as a layman, does distributing circa 80% of profits as dividends mean they have no serious opportunities that need funding going forward? or maybe they can always borrow if they need cash?

Don't look at the percentage, look at the absolute figure.
They are retaining ksh.18bn.
Excluding proposed dividends, their retained earnings is at ksh.88bn

Service revenue grew at a rate of 4.8% year over year, slightly slower than the 5.3% growth we posted in the first half.

Not a bad strategy. If you buy Safcom now, dividends you'll get soon before November. Equity by July.

Coop has already paid, thus till next year. KCB until end of this year incase of interim dividend.
