I also have a question, for the 16 guys who turned positive yesturday, were they having any symptoms?14 days were ending today. Is it right to conclude they were going on with their normal lifestyle and would have just healed without any intervention? Sars, H1N1, swine flue, ebola and CV have all exploded in the last 20 years. There still no effective vaccines for Sars and H1N1. By the way, Japan already has a effective drug against CV yet they have gone on a state of emergency in Tokyo and other areas. Mans plans the gods laugh

Since we are at the start of April, an immediate 2-week lock down of all known hot spots and/or tracing and quarantining all who have come into contact with victims makes sense. Then you have 2 more weeks to review before schools reopen. Lockdown as a strategy ? Experts are talking of between 60-180 days !!!! Scary stuff. https://www.bloomberg.co...ake?srnd=premium-africa[/quote] @FRM2011 hope you can see the point. This is the best we can manage at the moment

And of course, things are not as simple as you think they are: There are these tiny annoying thnigs called Clinical Studies that seem to comfound people these days... Quote: Doctors in Japan are using the same drug in clinical studies on coronavirus patients with mild to moderate symptoms, hoping it will prevent the virus from multiplying in patients.
Quote:Favipiravir would need government approval for full-scale use on Covid-19 patients, since it was originally intended to treat flu.
A health official told the Mainichi the drug could be approved as early as May. “But if the results of clinical research are delayed, approval could also be delayed.”

@Bigchick, about the discovered effects of Ivermetcin.
As @masukuma said, we wait for clinical trials. If you look at info on Covid and what is required; and what the drug offers, I may not be so optimistic.
As far as I can see, the treatment to work for is either a vaccine or find a way for building immunity slowly through non pharmaceutical means.
All drugs are secondary to these two options.

Most people, nay, governments, are not clear regarding the question to be answered, and the role of the lockdown or movement restrictions with regard to Covid. For example, Europe is transitioning from lockdowns to herd immunization. Quote: Italy on Monday reported 636 deaths, roughly 100 more than the previous day, but its infection rate slowed again, with the number of new positive cases rising by under 2,000, or 2.1%. The health minister, Roberto Speranza, told the daily La Repubblica that the coming period was going to be hard.
“There are difficult months ahead,” he said. “Our task is to create the conditions to live with the virus,” at least until a vaccine arrives.

If it were an African leader taken to ICU that would have been a top secret. Even being hospitalized is widely shielded. This the kind of transparency we should emulate. Get well Boris "Blowing out someone else candle won't make yours shine brighter"-Anonymous

The 16 cases were discovered after the ministry conducted tests on 530 samples. When were the samples taken? who knows. It also mentions that 11 patients had travel history - this means they came in on or before the 25 of March and are possibly in Mandatory Quarantine facilities. I also hear that the pilot was okey untill he got tested. Panic ikaingia chumbi ikapanda then akaondokea. Look at the roho juu governor still with us. This tests should be done away with and let focus on other methods of fighting this virus. Tests should only be done on servere cases where someone needs extra care. For counting /numbers purposes only. Now we have upscaled the lockdown for 21 days .hoping to see what we have yet to see from the previous 3 months. It's clear our government has decided to adopt the concept of herd immunity. Politics is just things to keep the people divided and foolish and put your trust in men and none of them can do nothing for you...

I have a funny feeling Kenyans still think the virus is here to negotiate. Since I last posted, the virus has moved from 500k to 1.3 million. I posted 6 days ago. I can see people here are still trying to organise, Viva!! It's a virus. Stop moving. It wont' move. Test as much as you can as quickly as you can. Isolate. I will bookmark this post too. TThere is no shortcut with this thing. There's no logical thinking. It is here to infect as many as it can. Until it can't infect anymore. It shall do so for as long as we aren't serious and isolate effectively. See you in one week's time. Thieves are not good people. Tumeelewana?
