GoK and CBK should take just modest interventions.Mass money printing for bailouts like Western nations will have disastrous consequences long term especially for our KES thats relatively weak in global markets. The West are getting away with it for now but chickens will come home to roost on this.

It will be interesting to see how GoK and CBK behave once Covid-19 really hits Kenya in the next few weeks. Will Opus Dei unleash trillions like the Fed and buy everything from government and corporate bonds, commercial paper, bailout money market funds and even indirectly buy stocks, send some money to every Kenyan like the US central bank and its counterparts in Europe,Japan and China.

Its wiser to take a Western/European airline where business class would be in the 300Ks or even less. Economy premium is another interesting seat which costs in the 100Ks with the said Western/European Airlines eg. Air France, Virgin etc.

That being said, no airline has business class seats as good as KQ (very wide).

Travelling economy, it makes sense taking an indirect flight because 14 hours is too much in such a tiny seat.

Also note that I'm talking about "normal times".
In normal times, KQ would not go anywhere with such pricing.

KQs business class to US is a hot sell and the pricing is similar or worse.

This crap is accelerating downwards to sub 1 bob without hope of recovery. #KQisDEAD after ailing from COVID-19.

I don't know how it will come out of this one.

Bailout!!!!!

Not a bailout like US airlines that behaved badly.KQ and US airlines need to be allowed to fail and have new more honest owners take over.If they collapse, the planes dont disappear into the ether but just get better owners who will learn to be prudent knowing they will be allowed to go bankrupt if they misbehave. Its the essence of free capitalism that purges dishonest players who engage in excess.Bankruptcies are good as it relocates resources to better management

There's no 'big enough' local airline to fill KQ local and regional void. When Jambojet grows to half the size of KQ then KQ can be buried.

Jambojet is a subsidiary of KQ, so they will always live and die together. Which tells you that KQ will definitely survive the storms in one way or another, dying is not an option. At worst it will close business for some time and later get revived.... KQ shareholder funds on the other hand don't have such a certain future, definitely could be wiped out completely

Turudi Kenya. GoK made some promises to the banks in exchange for the Debt:Equity Conversion. GoK should live up to that promise. Then take KQ out into the middle of NNP and 💥.

Vitu vingine regarding bailouts have little bearing on KQ's status as a perpetual loss-making machine.

JJ can be spun off as different legal entity owned by the creditors of KQ.

KQ is more of a national symbol, I doubt any standing government would allow it to fail.
