Quite a lot of guys on twitter are talking about some very bad/abnormal flu in early February. Did anyone here experience it?

Mine was bad I had a headache and took a day off to bask in the sun.

My colleague had this flu in Jan and I got it early Feb

Cough, Flu, headache

Americans had it(from tweets I've seen) Nov-Dec '19

No deaths were reported at the time given that corona mortality rate is high at certain age group someone would have noticed

Something is not adding up with GOKs statement.

The patient who died was in Aga Khan, they never mentioned that some patients are in private hospitals.

Mutahi previously mentioned that the patient who was serious was at the coast (Kilifi) and that they had sent him a ventilator. Why was this one in Agakhan not considered serious?

Spain now surpasses Italy with the no of deaths in 24hrs. 718 vs 712

My understanding is that he was in hospital due to diabetic related issues then as fate would have it Corona paid a visit.

He checked in from SA where he had gone for treatment?

But yes that statement is not clear......They should keep updating us on the progress of the cases that tested positive.

some private hospitals have test capability. makes sense for them to treat their own patients as along as they have isolation units. also it is inevitable for private hospitals to have covid-19 patients as thier icu units would be needed if cases get serious - there is no way they are removing their icu units to mbangathi.

Some food relief is necessary especially in city slums .a 2kg bag of maize flour for the city's 2.4 million living in slum can take them through 2 weeks period considering some are kids .hoping this is not a ground for unga scandal

No. The clothes of the thousands dead in europe and elsewhere due to corona would have ended up in kenya as mitumba.

Curfew means that even private cars are not allowed on the roads from 7pm - 5am. They will be towed to the police station for defying the curfew and driver charged.

And they still will several months from now when Corona will have gone and the ban lifted.

The crisis in the countries currently do not give room for exporting cloths of the dead. They are dealing with the health crisis first. After a month, they may begin to collect the cloths and they will take 21days to get here and another week to clear at the port and another week to the wholesalers.COVID does not have such a lifespan.

Let's just have a lockdown.

I was opposed to it but at our current state we have a semi-lockdown which is a full lockdown on many especially market traders.(See Kiambu, Eldoret, Msa, Nkr)

If we continue with the current semi lockdown affecting market traders etc but leaving others then later have a full lockdown, such people will suffer twice.

Let's go for full lockdown and ALL stay @home for 3 weeks in which existing cases will have manifested themselves. I read that 148 are under quarantine in SiayaSad

How will it help if the virus can re-seed itself after 3 weeks? Look at how polio keeps coming back from Somalia

Si hawa ni wale wa Father?

Be encouraged, they are under quarantine because the came into contact with father. We are almost past 14 days since father was there. No major outbreak reported. We shall be fine.

BTW I know someone who interacted with Father in Utawala,he has been tested and is ok and is past the 14days since his interaction with father. He is on quarantine at the moment after the father story broke out.

We shall overcome

I have tried. I have really tried to hold myself down.

But I cannot.

Please @Lolest, tell me you are Kenyan and have lived in Kenya all your life.

Please do @Lolest because the seething anger arising from your post is driving me loco.

Lockdown for EVERYONE at home?

Does that include The United People's Republic of Kibera, and Mukuru Kwa Njenga?

Does it include the entire Northern Frontier District where the "terrorists" reign supreme and non-Muslim teachers are persona non granta?

Does it include "Pwani Si Kenia"?

Who enforces this Lockdown? Kenyan Men in Uniform?

Do you know what roaming men in Uniform mean for our daughters, girlfriends, wives, sponsees, et al?

Do you know or recognize the power wielded by the hotheaded youthful Boda Boda riders in our society and what would happen when they are confined in a homestead for more than one day?

Have you ever heard of the corruption contagion that pervades every aspect of our society and what it would do to the logistics involved?

Have you seen/heard of the altercation that occurred at the ferry crossing yesterday?

Please enlighten me (us) what you infer when you visualize "Lockdown" for ALL because this seething anger has invoked memories of my hate for Nyaoisim and I do not want to walk that road ever again.

Please.

You have mentioned issues that can be resolved without a lockdown. The first problem is about creating an order and delivery system. The link provided above on China shows a disciplined deliver and order system. Going on lockdown without it will result with more people meeting outside, with time.

The second problem of infection rate and spread is being fought too passively. Waiting for manifestation may actually increase the infection rates. Even inside homes. The virus needs to be denied opportunities for infecting others rapidly. What is needed are some basic habits, otherwise just sitting at home may increase stress levels and interfere with new habits.

Add the probability of infection resurgence and we find that we can only be passive for a short span. So far we have no country that has come out of lockdown, so declaring '3 weeks' maybe a fantasy.

We need to urge our leadership to become more proactive while it can. We are not moving and we need to do that ASAP!

We need to push for extensive and widespread testing and isolation of positive cases a la South Korea combined with social distancing and enhanced hygiene measures. It's simply impractical and a recipe for chaos to lock down the entire population. We also need to urgently equip our hospitals and medics in preparation for a massive outbreak.

Good ideas but where is the equipment and where are the medics? Since we do not manufacture,we can only import.Who will sell to us right now.
